Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has bequeathed a healthy legacy to the virus-beleaguered nation. He showed the way to a post-shutdown America. He’s a prime reason millions of Americans got their jobs back.
He had the courage to break with the spell of Dr. Anthony Fauci who demanded a society of shut-ins. The Republican governor decreed that Florida was a free and open state. The COVID-19 disease would no longer rule, no longer destroy businesses, create drug addicts and disrupt school children.
The DeSantis Declaration of Freedom was all the bolder because it came in late 2020, early 2021, bumping up against the dominant liberal press, czar Fauci and eventually the Biden White House. All loved lockdowns. Dr. Fauci, who once dismissed masks as ineffective, came to promote wearing horror creature-like double masks — with goggles.
As early as August 2020, the governor urged schools to open again.
“To our kids,” he told Floridians, “We are here for you. We want you to learn. We want you to compete in sports. We want you to participate in activities. You are the future of Florida.”
In his March 2021 State of the State address, Mr. DeSantis declared a clean break from liberal leaders who continued to keep people masked and jobless.

Alaska was locked down for about eight weeks. In May 2020 we were already back in grocery stores and restaurants. It was pretty much a nothingburger after that, where I live.

Trump needs to be primaried by a MAGA candidate who will keep Trumpbon the straight and narrow. Trump got off course during his administration, hiring nevertrumpers , giving far too much power to Fauci, and not building the wall. He needs to be made to publicly promise , in the primary debates , that if he’s re-elected he’ll hire MAGA people, not swampy backstabbers
Primaries can be good. They keep candidates on their toes and listening to their supporters
Get back to us when DeSantis actually stands up and leads on the Voting Fraud issue.
Until then, he’s either not ready for the leadership position of POTUS, or just too weak, or not interested in POTUS 2024(whi h i believeis the case.).

He contained the HIV epidemic about as well as he did COVID.
You are wrong on that.
One of the first things DeSantis did when he became governor was clean out that democrat rats nest down in Miami-Dade and Broward counties, which was a locus of vote fraud since the Bush/Gore recounts of 2000. That didn't get a lot of press, unsurprisingly, and apparently you missed it. A few other problem areas have been taken care of as well. Florida is in pretty good shape, compared to most states.
So DeSantis has been leading by example. Since he is a state governor and not POTUS, what else would you suggest he do?
