Republicans Begin To Sour On Aid To Ukraine
Yahoo News ^ | 7/19/22 | Jonathan Nicholson

Posted on 07/19/2022 11:19:12 AM PDT by JonPreston

Rep. Matt Gaetz, the firebrand House Republican from Florida, said as much in a July 1 exchange with Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.). Answering a Tweet from Gallego that said “Fact is if the Republicans take over the House in 2022 US support to Ukraine will come to a halt,” Gaetz replied, “Ruben is correct.”

At a recent rally in Anchorage, Alaska, Trump riffed on the cost so far, misstating the amount spent.

“Like with Ukraine, we put up $60 billion and Europe put up $5, 6 [billion]? OK?” he said, drawing boos from the crowd. (Through early July, Congress has authorized about $54 billion for assistance not only to Ukraine, but to neighboring countries as well in response to the Russian invasion. )

And Trump is by no means alone among Republicans. On the last aid package, 11 GOP senators voted against more money, including Kentucky’s Rand Paul.

“We don’t have any money for anyone,” he told HuffPost. “I mean, we’re a trillion dollars in the hole every year. So any money that is allocated to send to a foreign country has to be borrowed first from another foreign country.”

During recent rally in Alaska, Sara Palin had some thoughts on the danger of Russia to the US.

Apparently Putin is increasing the carrot/stick approach to conquering Ukraine. Now more willing to negotiatiate/will kill Ukranians to the last man.

McConnell must not be getting enough of a cut.
Once Zelensky / puppet master decide on the terms then McConnell will send more money to Ukraine via secret bank accounts.

No I’m not pro-putin as you poot it.
However I am Anti-soros,anti-schwab,anti-biden and especially anti-Zelensky.A bad peace is usually better than a good war...After these evil-doers are gone , then I’ll be happy to join you towards cheering for the next highest priority level evil-doer (putin) to be removed from power.I think the world will be safer if UKR is neutral and the neocon globalists are neutered. I have two children in the US army and do not approve of Biden getting us into other countries civil wars.

Grifters gonna grift.

Our State Department along with “NGO’s” that mysteriously hire mostly retired government workers that pushed money to the NGO’s on “behalf of the American people” have created quite a racket in the Ukraine.

If you ever wondered how/why the reaction was so violent and swift to Trump suggesting the Ukraine investigate this just follow the money. In typical Trump fashion he mentioned the President’s son, but the problem and issues run far deeper to include many NGO’s that are effectively globalist arms in bed with intel agencies that push “color revolutions”.

Trump is right, again. It is criminal that we have pushed 10 times the amount of money that the EU has provided. He was also right about the need to figure out where all this money spent in our name has gone - he was indelicate with his request (never personalize it) and gave the left a hook to push mass hysteria when all he had to do was demand a full accounting of all foreign aid to the Ukraine from the US.

Why did he not do so? He talked about this on the campaign trail (where did all our money go?) but to my knowledge he never pushed the issue or he was thwarted in doing so.

I know there were people inside the inner circle of his own administration that did not want to open that can of worms.

I would love to know.

Don’t forget all of the “contractors” that are now out of work since we withdrew from the sandbox. They made billions on the War on Terror and now they are looking for their next gig.

IF Ukraine prevails it is very probable that our state department will employ the same contractors and pay them billions to rebuild Ukraine.

Puts it in perspective doesn’t it?

PS - The EU had their share of contractors living on the teat of Uncle Sam over there as well.

Follow

the

money.

I scanned past Sebastian Gorkas show today for the first time in three months - was surprised to hear he had gone from “real American men support Ukraine” to an obvious skeptic in the last 12 weeks.

Besides Trump only 11 Republicans are against this incredibly reckless spending? We sure have a lot of cleaning up to do within our own party.

**********

Its not our party, and never will be.

It passes itself off as conservative but the reality is it doesn’t do a single thing to fight for anything except lower taxes. That’s about all you get from the GOP.

We might be able to elect a few decent people here and there but the culture and mindset of appeasement in the party isn’t going to change. It is what it is.

The permanence of its pathetic leadership tells you everything you need to know about the party.

Some things just can’t be cleaned up.

The laundering of billions back to American politicians via their families and friends continues apace.

Its always about the money. Especially when they say its not.

Bingo!

The Republicans’ favorite word is “bi-partisan”.

They fold like cheap lawn chairs.

I agree. Far better to help the Ukies kill off the Russian bandits than having to do it ourselves.

Soviet Russia must be destroyed.

The support for this mess is on a steep decline, with Fox giving it hardly a mention. Jack Keane and Jennifer Griffin, Pentagon shills, have also been disappeared.

“Says an outspoken pro Putin poster! Do we want to pay Ukraine to drain the Putin war machine, or some day send tens of thousands of our young men to do the job? My son is just retiring from 25 years in special units, and I don’t want to see my grandchildren having to follow in his footsteps.”

Perhaps the Republicans in office have not pushed the issue because they know Trump is wrong (lied?). See my Comment #61. Europe has committed at least $29 billion, and so far US has spent/disbursed $43 billion of $54 voted on. so, less than twice as much, NOT 10 times. Also, I presume a lot of their Military Industrial Complex buddies/lobbyists are getting good contracts being all spent here in the US for salaries and jobs and subcontractors for about 1/2 of US money approved. Remember election campaign contributions?

“Good, 60 billion would have been a good down payment on a new refining plant.”

Or a bunch of nuclear reactors, or nearly 1000 F-35’s, or 4 or so new carriers.

...but it’s all gone now, and none of the above is important to our ‘leaders’.
