The data found that there was a 144% increase in homicides from January 2019 to June 2021 while non-fatal shootings increase by 241% from January 2019 to December 2021.
the data showed 2020 notched a 58% increase in homicides compared to the year prior, at 57 deaths, and 2021 recorded a 54% increase, at 88 homicides. The number of homicides in 2021 was a 238% increase from numbers recorded in 2018.
Non-fatal shootings have meanwhile more than tripled from 2019 to 2021. The city recorded 98 non-fatal shootings in 2019, which rose to 218 in 2020, and 334 in 2021.
The study found that the majority of suspects in both non-fatal shooting and homicide cases had been previously arrested and were known to the criminal justice system. Homicide suspects had been arrested an average of six times prior to a killing while suspects in the shootings had been arrested an average of eight times before.
The city saw at least 100 consecutive nights of protests and riots beginning in the summer of 2020, with businesses burned and looted, an "autonomous zone" established that resisted police interference, more than $2 million in damage to federal buildings, and business owners decrying their lost income and subsequent damages from the rioters.
Crime experts who previously spoke to Fox News Digital have pointed to the defund the police movement, the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdowns that upended society, and the Ferguson effect.

Hands up, let’s loot!
They got what they asked for.
Good and hard.
All this to honor the memory of Saint George Floyd, the patron saint of street criminals
Our cities are on the same path of destruction the country is, and I refuse to believe that it’s not deliberate.
The city deliberately, with full knowledge, allowed the riots, the takeover of a part of the city, the assaults, the arson, the massive stealing, the rapes, the murders, so as to show people who hate capitalism that they love them and will allow them do get back on their “oppressors” without any fear of being stopped.
The folks got the message: do whatever your uncivilized brainstem tells you to do.
“ Homicide suspects had been arrested an average of six times prior to a killing while suspects in the shootings had been arrested an average of eight times before.”
I think I see the problem here.
The Portland Demonicrat electorate get what they deserve.
Gotta make things worse to build back better.
They have seceded from civilization.
oh well...........
It is deliberate; they planned on replacing a private-sector tax base (which could exert some measure of control over local policies) with unemployable populations subsidized by state/federal aid - who would have no say in anything in terms of policy.
NY and NJ are doing this on a state-wide scale; their policies chase private-sector employers out, and the lost revenues are replaced by the tax dollars that come with the imported underclass trafficked here from abroad.
When those who have honored George Floyd run out of turf in the cities to loot, burn and destroy, they’ll have to move to the hinterlands to continue their homage to St. George. And that might be where the rubber meets the road.
What? There's a connection between the two??!! That's un-possible!
Some lessons are learned the hard way. Please don’t use my tax dollars to fix their problems. They need to pay double, once for the crime and then to fix the problem. I have zero compassion for them. Compassion is for two year olds that lack the cognitive ability to reason.
Thank a Democrat for Portland. Vote for somebody else!
Time for the Nick Cage meme, “ya don’t say”. Nobody saw that coming, nope, nobody.
Enjoy the suck you commie bastards!
They imported the talent to protest, now they are finding out the vermin didn’t leave.
