Putin to invade Azerbaijan in 3...2...1.
Did they look at the map before signing it?:)
Why doesn’t Europe drill or frack I read they have huge fields of oil and gas
Azerbaijan has small gas output from what I have read. They don’t have much to export, but now everybody loves them.
Yep,
At the end of this all Putler will have lost his best gas customers. Couldnt happen to a more deserving “man’
Russia is bad and Communist but it is best not to under estimate them...
A bunch of CRY BABIES. They have other ways to generate energy, and anyone who’s been there can see the ugly evidence everywhere they look.
If Green is so great for Europe, then walk the walk and STOP BURNING GAS.
That simple.
Why? The Europeans have windmills. What more could they want?
gas supply from the country will increase from 8.1 billion cubic meters in 2021 to an expected 12 billion cubic meters this year.
Now, let's compare that measly amount to what Russia has been supplying to Europe each year:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-07-01/us-lng-supplies-to-europe-overtake-russian-gas-iea-says
Russia ships about 150 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe via pipelines every year, and another 14 billion to 18 billion cubic meters of LNG.
Azerbaijan takes very seriously its independence from Russia.
WWII trivia…. The southern German army divided in half with one piece laying siege to Crimea and the other half attacking Stalingrad. Stalingrad was the strategic gateway to the Caucus oilfields, i.e. Baku region in Azerbaijan.
It’s irrelevant. The energy crisis for Europe hits in earnest this fall, unless there is a negotiated settlement of the war. It there is no resolution by then, governments across Europe will fall and there will be social chaos. The Muslim immigrants, especially, will become disruptive if they don’t get the full amount of heat, light, and food European welfare states have accustommed them to. If Biden would get his foot off the throat of the energy energy, we could probably supply lots of LNG cheaper than trying to get gas from Central Asia. Certainly, even if not cheaper, the LNG would be available a lot sooner than 2027.
Russia’s Lukoil company today owns a 20% share of Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz field.
