Unfortunately, as with most Governmental agencies and programs, once created they're near impossible to terminate. Politicians for the most part are feckless cowards who talk a good game but rarely deliver.

Maybe she was effective in her job under PDJT, but I never noticed that she did anything. My feeling was that she liked the title/status, and the DC social part of that. I could be wrong.
Never would have happened because all the members of Congress love the monies coming into their districts from the Fed govt.

Education Secretary Betsy DeVos resigned Thursday night, blaming President Donald Trump for rhetoric that fueled the invasion of the U.S. Capitol by a mob of Trump suppporters.
DeVos is the second member of Trump's cabinet to quit because of the riot Wednesday.
Earlier Thursday, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao said she would resign.
She had FOUR YEARS to dismantle the Dept of Ed. We’ve been calling for it forever; Local Control! This is just more conservative rhetoric for fund raising purposes and a campaign issue. What DID she accomplish as Secretary of Ed? Did she get rid of any bad policies?
I remember all the lefties being incensed when she was named to her position that she would totally do away with public education as we know it. She did absolutely NOTHING.
But for REAL change in public education??
It doesn’t matter about the Dep. of Education.
It doesn’t matter about “what good schools we used to have.”
It doesn’t matter about “qualified teachers” (almost all these teachers think they’re “child welfare advocates” and “experts in child development.” No what they really are are crowd control monitors. They don’t “teach” specific areas of interest that they have experience in and love.
It doesn’t matter how many free meals the schools offer (most of which are the lowest nutritional sources and inferior products that are only reheatae
Items…almost no fresh cooking applies).
It doesn’t matter how many tax dollars are given back to parents or how many charter schools accept them.
It doesn’t really even matter how many textbooks are thrown out that are nothing more than large brainwashing pamphlets.
What matters is children having a home where the family unit is in tact. A mom and a dad to come home to, unless there is simply no possible way for that to happen (death of a spouse, severe abuse situation).
What matters is parents realizing until the child is well established upwards of twelve, he or she needs a parent at home to come home to. That means sacrificing on mom’s part (sorry the evidence is clear it works better) to not work outside of the home until the child is old enough to handle being home a few hours on their own. I know it’s just so old fashioned, but it’s superior.
What matters is people who claim to have old fashioned values and want the best for their kids and to have godly, patriotic, productive children back that up with realizing their school absolutely sucks. Yes. Their school where their child plays in marching band or ffa, or whatever sport. Yes. Your school right now is very, very weak. I don’t care what part of the country it’s in. Your school is bad because it was taken over decades ago by its nationalization and the hiring of teachers who graduated from colleges where 97 percent of the professors claim to be socialists or communists. That’s right.
Until you take your child out of these indoctrination centers, you have no idea how much they’ve been affected by being placed in daily situations with not only students who may be addicted to the same drugs their mom and her boyfriend is whatever living condition is prominent, but the ideology that says they aren’t supposed to have any moral values. Their presence is solely for the school to make them citizens with the proper character they are pushing.

I just ‘divorced’ a female cousin as she is a die-hard teachers union and democrat activist. She and I both worked the 2020 election as poll workers, in different states. She almost gloated Biden's win, as if she knew it was rigged.

In bumper sticker terms, she cashed her check for 4 years, half heartedly supported Trump during the same 4 years, then stabbed him in the back.
Ms. Devos epitomizes what’s wrong with this country. Namely, low caliber people end up in high places in government and our growing “woke” industries and corporations.
