The Sacramento County Department of Public Health has expanded recommendations for who should get vaccinated against monkeypox as more cases were reported this week.

The California Department of Public Health reported 250 cases, 14 of those in Sacramento.

While monkeypox has been around since 1958 and is much less contagious than COVID-19, many of the recent cases reported by CDPH this year have occurred among persons self-identifying as men who have sex with men.

Below are the eligibility guidelines to receive the vaccine.

Men who have sex with men (MSM) and/or Transgender individuals who meet at least one of the following criteria:

Have tested positive for an STI in the past two months. Had 2+ sexual partners in the last 3 weeks. Attended or work at a commercial sex venue in the last 3 weeks. Had anonymous sex in the past 3 weeks. Engaged in transactional sex (sex work) in the past 3 weeks.

I guess no monkeypox vaccine for me. What is a commercial sex venue and what is transactional sex?

Did the early AIDs epidemic over lap the gerbil era?

Certain words/terms have been ‘renamed’ so as not to ‘stigmatize’ people thus engaged ....

Prostitute (old) = sex worker (new)

Prostitution (old) = transactional sex (new)

Not sure about a ‘commercial sex venue’ .... sounds like maybe gay bath houses (?)

Close bath houses. Release the cdc findings on just how bad homo sex really is. Start a PSA campaign against homosexuals.

But they’ll never isolate. From what I remember the gays had free reign to screw anyone they wanted until TV ads said AIDs was a heterosexual disease.

Whatever lessons they apply, they will not include urging gays to change their social behavior in any way; any demands will apply to the rest of us instead.

From the article:

Manny Romero, a transgender woman in Sacramento, said not being careful in the way that the information is relayed could be stigmatizing and especially triggering to those who lived through the 80s.

“These headlines that narrow it to LGBTQ folk, especially gay men and trans women as they’re headlining it, it’s very scary. It’s a very scary thing to do because it marginalizes us and it opens us to be a target — a target for ridicule and a target for discrimination,” Romero said.

There was a brief moment in 1982-83 when such a thing could have been possible.

But that moment is long gone.

The decision to "carve out" AIDS and make it a collective obligation to mitigate the consequences created whole new industries. As late as 1988, it was possible to ask, "why should AIDS medications be free, and why should a diagnosis make someone automatically qualified for insurance, housing, food, and medical care when diabetes (for example) doesn't?", but that moment too has passed.

1988 was 34 years ago. All diseases of self-abuse are now society's fault, and financing them is society's obligation.

Recruitment to medical school now includes making sure you agree (for the moment, you can still pretend, but submitting your social media is right around the corner).

The Hippocratic Oath has been changed to cover all this.

I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings

Boo hoo. Sounds like the strategy the Covidians applied to the unmasked and more recently have been applying to the non-vaxxed.

So then there should be no reason the Birdbrain administration should call for a shutdown before the 2022 elections ... oh wait ... how silly of me

Won’t be long until Monkeypox is declared a “national emergency” and “our greatest crises” - with mandatory vaccinations of the entire population - yearly vaccinations.

Perhaps they’ll bundle it with the latest COVID vax as a two-fer.

*There was a brief moment in 1982-83 when such a thing could have been possible*

LOL, right? Can you even imagine someone suggesting that sort of common sense approach today? It'd be the end of their professional life no matter their vocation.

We have reached such levels of irrationality that not only do we have to pretend everyone is at risk, they could actually mandate we all do things to put ourselves equally at risk. It wouldn't shock me.

“Trans-women” — i.e., male sex perverts who pretend to be women — do indeed get the pox, but cis-women are very unlikely to get it.

I thought they were going to stop calling it “Monkeypox” out of respect for all those poor monkeys!
