N. Korea officially recognizes independence of 2 separatist regions in Ukraine

SEOUL, July 14 (Yonhap) -- North Korea has formally recognized the independence of two pro-Russian separatist "people's republics" in eastern Ukraine, becoming the world's third nation to do so, according to the North's state media Thursday.

The North's Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui sent letters to her counterparts in the Donetsk People's Republic and the Luhansk People's Republic the previous day and recognized the entities, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said. Russia and Syria have already backed their independence.

"In the letters, she informed them that the DPRK government decided to recognize the independence of the People's Republic of Donetsk and the People's Republic of Lugansk and expressed the will to develop the state-to-state relations with those countries in the idea of independence, peace and friendship," it said in an English-language article. DPRK stands for the North's official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Earlier, Ukraine announced it severed diplomatic ties with North Korea over the move to recognize the separatist regions.

The North has recently stressed its close ties with Russia despite international condemnation of its invasion of Ukraine. Pyongyang has previously blamed the Ukraine crisis on the "hegemonic policy" of the United States and the West.

So three countries out of how many in the world think that independence, peace and friendship are appropriate adjectives for a Russia-sponsored hijacking of two oblasts that Russia is pounding into rubble.

How Orwellian.

14 Russian ammunition depots (50 fuel trucks at one) and other targets destroyed. Russian air defense including S-400s cannot intercept HIMARS missiles.

Russia’s plans are defeated by a few Western weapons: Ukraine holds its own and Europe’s defenses

[familyop: The Royal United Services Institute for Defense and Security Studies is obviously mistaken about the Ukrainian troops’ ability to quickly learn to use such “diverse” weapons, as we’ve seen with HIMARS and other systems. Ukrainian forces are learning and adapting very quickly with proven success. Having instructed U.S. soldiers myself in the past, I can vouch for U.S. Army excellence in high speed training.]

[Where it sounds like the translator for Leshchenko is saying salt pepper in reference to one of the HIMARS strikes on an ammunition and weapons depot, the phrase is actually salt peter (silly claim from the Russians). You’ll see and hear in the following video, that heavy weapons ammunition was detonating.]

Any country with the words “people’s republic” in its title means one of two things. It is either run and owned by Moscow or the people have no say in the government. In the case of DPR and LPR both statements are true.

In addition to the triumph with North Korea Russia had another great victory yesterday.

The organization “Democratic Socialists of America” wrote a passionate speech in Russia’s favor.

Yes. With their tactics and stated desires, they remind me of Lyndon LaRouche and others like him.

Heh. No, I just know a lot of people from Donbas and Zaporozhia, who are Russian Ukrainian, and who are now refugees in Europe.

The risk of them being killed by Azov in the last three years was so low, they led totally normal lives (Even according to the last three annual reports on it by the Donbas People’s Republic’s own Human Rights Ombudsman-https://eng.ombudsman-dnr.ru/?__cf_chl_tk=s6DWamo9VDXwZsfvLQE95UuYmh5uTA.WxreAKGN0SAs-1657808697-0-gaNycGzNBv0).

They’re only here because of the very high risk of them now being caught in the crossfire between Azov nazis and Russian conscripts, or bombed by distant Russian artillery, or indiscriminately taken out by the Russia’s Wagner Nazis / Islamonazi Chechens.

If they for one second had thought they could be safer in Russian controlled areas they only had to travel a couple of hundred kilometres to get there. Instead they’ve travelled over fifteen hundred kilometres without a car, often sleeping rough, in order to to get as far away from the invading Russkies as is humanly possible.

When I tell those Russians in exile that there are Conservative Americans who totally believe the Kremlin’s nonsense about protecting Russian speakers from Ukrainian nazis, they are thunderstruck. They’re baffled at how anyone could fall for something so utterly, obviously untrue... Let alone a population that they assume would be naturally sceptical of Kremlin lies.

The Russian propaganda that people have swallowed for 8 years is a bit like having Goebbels saying they’re only having a Holocaust because they need to protect the German language from an existential threat represented by German speaking Jews.

They may not be on Zelenskyy’s side but the Russians from eastern and southern Ukraine who are now refugees in Europe sure as shit aren’t on Putin’s side anymore.

If they had to choose between Kyiv rule and being ruled over by Russia, TODAY, i don’t think I’ve met one that would choose Putin over Zelenskyy.
