For years, downtown Rifle’s restaurant scene was anchored by one of the only places in the U.S. you could order a cheeseburger from a server packing a 9mm pistol on her hip. The establishment — Shooters Grill — was the brainchild of U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert.
On Sunday, the Silt Republican officially closed the doors to her restaurant.
“We were like a family,” she said. “I would say Shooters, for any employee, was their life. We lived and breathed it every single day. They were a part of this culture and brand that we created in Rifle, and there was a lot of pride with that.”
In June, Boebert was told by new landlord Milken Enterprises that her lease wasn’t going to be renewed. Boebert said the letter came as a shock. She soon called the landlord but “there wasn’t really much wiggle room or anywhere to compromise unless we bought the building ourselves.”

“ne of the only”
only one or one of the few?
Is this THE Milken associated with junk bonds?
Can’t she just buy a building?
I guess this means she was canceled.
CW2 is rapidly approaching.
Or buy another building or build new?
She should be able to afford to buy some land and build a new restaurant of her own.
She will likely win re-election, so she should be able to do that.
That’s what I was thinking.
I doubt they dealt with something this small.
Judging from the story that seems to be her only alternative. Someone should start a Gofundme.
I could see a compromised person like Milken buying up the sidewalk where Boebert's child was running a lemonade stand.
I guess she's not yet like one of those democrats who get wealthy after a few years in D.C.
Quite the mystery. Pelosi became a stock trading genius, and others just raked in bribes from domestic and foreign enemies.
The fact that Boebert can't buy the building from 'loose change' she found laying around - is a plus for her.
Yeah, but does she have the time to build a new restaurant with her other duties.
It’s one thing to run an established restaurant with management in place.
It’s more difficult to restart in a new building in a new location, possibly with a lot of new crew due to the temporary shut down.
Finding a different building in a small town shouldn’t be that difficult. New building owner is not likely to find a nee tenant. Could just be a negotiating strategy for higher rent. Well, two people can play that game.
Michael Milken got a presidential pardon from Trump. Why would he go after Boebert?
Yeah sure seems she could just buy the damned building, put up a give, send go page to save the restaurant!!!
Trump gave Michael Milken a presidential pardon. Why would he go after Boebert?
CW2 is a small blip in the rearview mirror. Only one side has been fighting it, and the other side has been playing nice.
Often when things like this happen, a twist occurs and they end up in a better place than they were.
She may find another space elsewhere that turns out to be a superior place to this.
She has a husband.
I know it sucks, but that’s life.
