Elon Musk responded to Donald Trump's recent criticism by saying it was time for the former president to "hang up his hat & sail into the sunset."
Musk commented via Twitter after sharing a story about Trump on Saturday night calling the Tesla and SpaceX CEO a "bullsh*t artist."
"I don't hate the man, but it's time for Trump to hang up his hat & sail into the sunset," Musk tweeted Monday night. "Dems should also call off the attack – don't make it so that Trump’s only way to survive is to regain the Presidency."
Musk's tweet came after Trump's appearance at a rally in Alaska, where the former president suggested the billionaire's move to buy Twitter was a ruse. Trump also called Musk a liar for saying he had never voted for a Republican.
After Musk’s "sunset" tweet, talk show host Joe Pags Pagliarulo asked the billionaire whether he had an issue with Trump's presidency, pointing out policies regarding energy independence, lower regulations, construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline, and a the southern border.
"Yeah, but too much drama. Do we really want a bull in a china shop situation every single day!?" Musk tweeted. "Also, I think the legal maximum age for start of Presidential term should be 69."
Another Twitter follower asked Musk why he wouldn't support a 2024 GOP national ticket with Trump at the top and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as the vice president nominee. DeSantis then could run in ’28 and ’32.
"Trump would be 82 at end of term, which is too old to be chief executive of anything, let alone the United States of America," Musk tweeted in response.
"If DeSantis runs against Biden in 2024, then DeSantis will easily win – he doesn’t even need to campaign."

It's been easy for me to fall for Musk's hype. I applauded his moves to acquire Twitter and make a free speech platform.
But this Breitbart story is excellent analysis.
I did a little Google search and discovered Musk has been dinging Truth Social:
That's disrespectful. Makes you wonder if he's truly out to protect free speech or is merely looking out for himself.
You pegged it right. Musk is another corporate welfare seeker. Musk got a deal from Texas. And the booby prize went to Rivian who's got sugar daddy Kemp in Georgia.
Click the "5Y chart" on Telsa's stock price. Its value today is down to what it was in late 2020. Its fortunes are mirroring the Biden economy. Lots of hope through mid-2021 and bitter disappointment since then.
This guy has lost his luster for me. And I'm glad it was Trump who called him out. Well done, Mr. Very Stable Genius. Suddenly, a few words at an Alaska rally and the Martian explorer has been brought down to size. Bezos was a lot more cagey with Trump. He knew is was never smart to confront Trump directly. Musk is not so clever after all.
Hey Musk, Abe Lincoln had a saying, "You can fool some of the people... "
I don’t think folks here believe he’s a conservative. I wouldn’t even know what he’s saying if someone didn’t post it here.
You all make too much of it.
When you have that much fame and fortune, you operate on a different level. You didn't get where you were by being a nice guy and you certainly don't care what other people think of you.
Get the two of them in a room together however and they will swap stories and hit it off like gangbusters.
How much of it did he clean out in the four years he had? What would be different in a second Trump administration?
He exposed them al, both sides.. First step in eliminating a problem is to identify it. The American people are now on board, but it will be hard.
How do you like filling up your car lately? Been to the grocery store? Those lower taxes really help these days right?
Thanks, V. K. You are probably right. Both men are on our side. A lot of OPTICS we’re seeing, Better to enjoy the show.
Thanks for the link to the DeSantis signed bill is provide $8.6 million for EV charging stations in Florida. That’s a judicious amount of money that doesn’t raise eyebrows.
If it was KEMP in Georgia, he’d surely find a way to expand that $9 million to $100 million.
Hey, qaz. My wife and I have been roaming the territory south of Atlanta — Henry and Spalding counties. She’s enjoying playing some Pickleball here.. Notice a lot of construction going on here in what appears to be massive warehouse facilities. Wonder how much of that is spurred by Georgia “economic development” dollars. Is KEMP trying to make Georgia the warehouse of America? If so, he’s feeding an already bad highway congestion problem.
So you created a self-fulfilling prophecy?
Cool.
LOL = like cricket is to baseball; rugby to football.
They’re going up everywhere.
In Newton and Rockdale counties, it appears that the local county commissions are incapable of saying NO to any developer that wants to put up apartment complexes; as well. nterestingly, most are on roads that 100%, cannot handle the traffic.
Rockdale, along I20, just east of 138 has thrown up a bunch of warehouse and distribution centers with room for more, most are sitting vacant and have been for a long time.
Newton is becoming one big apartment complex. I think they’ve said there will be 5000 apartments, inside the city of Covington. Where are all these people coming from?
If they’re from south of the border, since they have to fill the spaces up, both Rockdale and Newton are gone. Never to be fixed. 3rd world favelas forever.
But the geniuses seem to think that, for Newton, the newest complex, will be filled with all the movie people.
I remember seeing a question on the ballot when I voted in the primary, asking about the film credit. Curious to know the results.
I’ve come to realize that local politicians are just as greedy and corrupt as any in DC and they’re not smart. Make Kemp look like one of the smart kids in class. But, I feel they’re worse because you can sit next to them in a Waffle House and they’ll tell you how great everything is. Then go right back to stabbing us all in the back all for the unicorns and rainbows they’ve been promised by some developer who doesn’t live anywhere near. One of the best examples is Bruce Williamson, out in Walton County.
I’m betting that if the people saw the short, mid, and long term plans most of these people have approved or are getting ready to approve they’d be horrified. Of course, too many of these people selling us all out will be re-elected because no one really cares at the end of the day.
I saw some of this play out in Athens. Kemp is originally from Athens so he’s treated as the favorite son. And apartment building are booming in Athens as well.
Republicans and Dem politicians are both out to fleece the taxpayer with their “economic development” deals — with generous kickbacks to the donors and pols.
The GOPe blood is strong in Georgia — like Texas used to be when George W. Bush was governor (I’m guessing).
The GOPe needs to fall hard to the Dems before true MAGA politicians can get elected. But can we wait that long to see that occur?
Agree.
