You are right. I was referring to the lack of gender for pronouns, which, with a few exceptions is the role gender plays in English. Yet the feminists demanded that he and she be replaced by ‘they’. As you likely know, virtually all nouns in Spanish, French, German, etc. are assigned a gender—something that confounds English-speaking beginners to those languages.

The sense of some of them still confuse me - el mar? Seems to me that ought to be feminine, but it only is sometimes.
