A California OB-GYN is organizing an effort to provide abortion services and reproductive health care to women in states bordering the Gulf of Mexico by anchoring a floating clinic off the coast on federal waters.

Dr. Meg Autry, who is also a professor at the University of California San Francisco campus, is helming the project to launch the vessel in response to last month's Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade

"Why? Abortion is legal in California."

Read again: Not around the Gulf of Mexico... but they'll need to dock at some point, and I can imagine some enterprising lawmakers working their magic here.

The Dutch have been doing this for years. https://www.womenonwaves.org/en/page/493/abortion-on-our-ship

I can’t remember which country it was, but they gave up on it because no one wanted their services.

That might happen to Dr. Meg too.

Abortion ships would likely be subsidized by wealthy Leftists just so they can "stick it" to those evil conservatives who thought they were saving babies by having Roe vs Wade overturned.

When, in the future, aliens from another galaxy visit Earth to determine why all signs of civilization are absent, they will ask themselves the astounding question: “Why the hell did these earthlings do everything they could to wipe themselves out?”

Yeah, but not as dramatic and no one would pay her any attention, which is the whole point.

Pretty sure state law applies pretty far offshore, too. She’d have to be miles out.

Red states have much lower abortion rates (on average) than big blue states, so this makes about as much sense as providing weight loss help to anorexics.

(Top three for abortion rates were Washington DC, New York and New Jersey. No surprises there.)

When I was first stationed in the UK in 1986, abortion was illegal there and they would take women to a ship off-shore. This is nothing new or innovative. Ports in the gulf states where it’s illegal should refuse entry and any services for re-provisioning.

Just the absurd switching into Full Absurdity Mode. ROTFL. Funny stuff Hippies! I think the DNC has already designated Indian reservations as Safe Abortion Zones and Sanctuaries.

If that broad is “helming” the vessel, it won’t be afloat for long. But why wait? That abattoir should be sunk.

We better not be able to see it from the beaches. We can’t have any unsightly killing factories within view of the shore.

>Abortion will be readily available in more than half the states.<

I think it’s more about being paid for by us, through Medicare or ? Our taxes pay for it one way or another.

And these companies that say they will pay their employees to go to another state to get an abortion?? How does that help their business? lol

This scheme is like BLM. Get a bunch of people donating to what seems like a great idea and take a nice salary promoting it, then apologize because it really wasn’t feasible.

Crossing state lines is too much of a burden, but boating beyond the 3 mile state limit in open waters is okay?

This is the same logic that liberals use when saying that voter ID is too big a hurdle but EBT cards are easy to get.
