They said in their writings that the proper population of the world is about 1 billion . . .

This was a common topic of discussion at leftist coffee houses that I used to frequent when I was a young, idealistic journalism major.

The traditionalist among these control freaks would argue for a half billion (the number on the Georgia guidestones) because that had traditionally been the earth's population through most of human history. The "progressives" among the population control sect would argue for about double that number because technological advances enabled the earth to support more people.

These folks were downright spooky in their cult beliefs. That experience helped me understand why their modern counterparts put sexual deviancy on a pedestal to be promoted and encouraged.

I am trying to figure this out... poor people are beneficial to the US economy because of there being more people, but poor people below the equator are a drain on the planet...

Words fail me.
