This is pretty subtle. A great cop arrested simply because of out of date laws regarding the lawful age for sex with an adult. /s
The cop had to know this kid was a minor. Why meet in an abandoned area rather than a bar or coffee shop and get a room or better yet, the sex partner’s place.
The queers are pushing to take children lawfully. Don’t let them.
Roughly half of adult gay men were victims of homosexually molestation as children. That tells you several things:
1. Homosexuality has a high overlap with pediastry and pedophilia. Probably half are child molesters if allowed.
2. Homosexuality is often the result of grooming or trauma.
I am in no way defending the cop, but I am predicting that he will not be convicted.
A good defense attorney will present the kid’s communications with the cop in which he lied about his age.
The defense will also show that the cop knows the penalties and the severe application of the penalties in cases involving minors and so would never take the risk.
So he might get a lap on the wrist, or maybe nothing at all.
Regardless of how we feel about this case, convicting him is not a sure thing.
Yes, this case is a set-up for trying to create a legal exception to the rule.
"But 16 is legal in DC, where he was from; just not in Florida!""But the kid lied about his age online!"
"He never asked the kid his age!"
"Youth often reach out online because they get teased in school!"
"Florida makes it a crime even if you didn't know—it's so unfair!"
