The parents of the suspect who police say carried out the mass shooting in Illinois on July 4 have issued a statement for the first time since the attack.
“We are all mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, and this is a terrible tragedy for many families, the victims, the paradegoers, the community, and our own,” the parents of Robert “Bobby” Crimo III said.
“Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to everybody,” they added.
The brief statement was released by Steve Greenberg, a lawyer who said the parents have hired him to represent them.
Robert Crimo, who lost a Highland Park mayoral bid in 2019, and his wife would like people to “respect their privacy as they try to sort thru this tragedy,” Greenberg said. “The parents share everyone’s desire to figure out everything that went wrong so that this doesn’t happen again, to more innocent people, children, and families,” according to Greenberg, who also said the parents are cooperating with law enforcement.
Crimo III is being represented by two other attorneys, Thomas Durkin and Josh Herman, according to Greenberg. Durkin and Herman did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The motive is not yet apparent, officials told reporters on Tuesday. They also acknowledged that Crimo III was known to police, including an attempted suicide attempt and a warning that the man presented a “clear and present danger” in 2019. But there was not evidence to deny a Firearm Owners Identification Card (FOID) when the suspect applied for one in late 2019, the Illinois State Police said.
Under Illinois state law, a person must have a FOID to obtain a gun.
Police said Crimo III’s father sponsored his son’s application.
Greenberg on Wednesday said the police then renewed the card when Crimo III turned 21 “without any involvement from his father.”
It is well known that these drugs are dangerous when given to adolescents. (age 12 to 20, or as WHO defines as 10 to 24). Because, of course, the atmosphere in which these young people develop problems, in most cases, is a lack of nuture, coupled with social media, and peer pressure. Naturally, there are children who may be born with a brain defect, but since the brain of the infant up to at least 6 yrs., and probably older, is “plastic”, and extremely suggestable, nurture or lack thereof is of untold importance.
At this stage of life and in my state of mind if I had such a son I don’t even think I’d wish him good luck.
I sure would not be issuing statements.
He would be dead to me.
Yes I can because my opinion is just as relevant as yours is.
With that being said, I've finally met the perfect parent who has raise perfect children. Kudos to you......LOL!
Agreed. A lot of folks here are quick to judgement with little facts.
I’m not perfect, and I have stated that already. However, I am a very good parent, and yes, I did raise with the help of a terrific husband 3 wonderful adults. The oldest is now married and raising his own first child. More to come.
Just because that calling (marriage and parenting) wasn’t for you, you don’t need to knock everyone else down.
Well you know it’s a pretty tight family when your moms clothes get the blur tool on the video.
My regret is that Illinois does not have the death penalty. John Gacy may have been the last to get zotted in this state. Now the taxpayers of Illinois have to bear the cost of this miserable larvae’s incarceration. Maybe he’ll get the Jeffrey Dahmer execution while in prison: a broken broomstick in the back door ala vlad the impaler.
I’ve been thinking about this. The store where he bought the weapons is gonna be given an anal exam like nobody’s business. It’s gonna be interesting to see just where and how this little monster slipped thru the cracks.
My comment wasn't meant to knock anyone down. But since you have to bring it up, maybe you do have some issues yourself and are merely projecting?
Not gonna argue about it, not worth the time.......
Perhaps it’s not worth arguing over, however you wrote this, and directed it to me, and no others.
“ Glad to know that this site is filled with experts on parenting and could have easily prevented this tragedy if they were his parents........”
Then after trying to make my case with my first response to you, you wrote back, “ With that being said, I’ve finally met the perfect parent who has raise perfect children. Kudos to you......LOL!”
That sure sounded like a knock to me personally. I wasn’t projecting. I was defending myself.
I wish you all the best, FRiend, but when you give a sarcastic LOL to me, I will stand up for my parenting against your non-parenting.
No, his father ran as a Republican and lost to a gun control Democrat.
More to it than that. This is from her business site.
One person has the ability to influence innumerous lives.
Beginning with your healing, you have the ability to emit higher vibrational frequencies affecting all of those around you.
These vibrational frequencies are filled with healing energy affecting patterns of lower vibrations, thus changing thought patterns and cell consistency. The universal frequencies accessed through healing will reach a broader spectrum of space and time, opening up new levels of abilities and resources. These new levels of abundance will not only be accessible in your life, but in the lives of all of those you love, reaching ever so farther than you can imagine.
Imagine intertwining these frequencies with others on a healing path, creating a web of transformation across the universe, healing all of those who cannot heal themselves.

Very sad that none of that worked.
...ASS beating...
You just pulled MY trigger!!
This should be in the headline, but AP only mentions it 10 paragraphs down...
Illinois state police, who issue gun owners’ licenses, said Crimo applied for a license in December 2019, when he was 19. His father sponsored his application.
For another take on the story, here’s this article:
Father enabled suspect in July 4 massacre to buy guns after police flagged him as ‘clear and present danger’
“The subject was under 21 and the application was sponsored by the subject’s father,” police said in a statement.
Continuing in the MSM’s theme of conveniently not mentioning something... PBS’s Newshour dedicated over 5 minutes to discuss, with an expert Professor from Duke University, how RC3, “was able to get his guns in the first place” — but without a mention of how it was RC3’s father that made it possible for the boy to get the guns...

That is from the mothers web site, her words, not mine, see the link, she may be a certified wacko.
She is in the YouTube video.
>> her words, not mine,
Damn. For a minute there, I thought I was getting your vibe...
AP now has an article out with more details about the gun purchase:
“Less than three years ago, police went to Crimo’s home following a call from a family member who said he was threatening “to kill everyone” there, according to Christopher Covelli, a spokesman for the Lake County Major Crime Task Force.
A Crimo family attorney, Steve Greenberg, told the Chicago Tribune that the father was not aware of the threats when he helped his son with the application because his son lived with another relative at the time.”
“Crimo’s home” ... better to have said Crimo’s residence, as Crimo didn’t have a private address. My understanding is that he lived with family.
“Family member”... don’t know the relative... but it wasn’t his father, or mother, unless they lived apart at that time...
The kid looked pretty normal in the high school age photos, very short cropped hair, no tats, smiling, hugging his sis and so on. High school after school coach said neither he nor his brother were any trouble, and were quiet, not disruptive. But he said they were often forgotten by their parents, or parents were always late, so the kids were the last to be picked up, and when they tried to call the parents, sometimes they couldn’t get a hold of them.
