Voters, unenthusiastic about a Trump vs. Biden rematch in 2024, are increasingly open to dumping the Republican and Democrat ticket entirely for an independent candidate.
Two recent polls show a majority of Republican, Democratic and independent voters would consider a “moderate independent candidate” for president if President Biden and former President Trump run again in 2024.
“Our observed aversion to the former and current president as voters begin thinking about 2024 tickets is a major opening for an independent presidential ticket,” Mark Penn, chairman of the Harvard-CAPS Harris Poll, which conducted the two surveys, said.
The poll of registered voters, taken at the end of June, found that 60% would consider an independent candidate in 2024 if Biden and Trump are their respective party’s nominees in 2024.
Among Democrats, the number rose to 64%, while 53% of Republicans said they’d weigh an independent candidate. Among independent and other unaffiliated voters, the number shot up to 66% who are willing to give an independent candidate a close look.

I didn’t say I was supporting him just that it could be a possibility he would run
Trump won by a landslide in2020 and will again in 2024. If they steal it again, they will get CW2.
I think that conservatives would be much better off with a very conservative candidate other than Trump on the Republican ticket rather than with a middle of the road, milquetoast candidate running as an independent.
Just a Mark Penn fantasy. The Ruling Class will never let it happen. Third parties have a lousy record.
I sense a moonie infestation...
If it’s a formula to beat Trump they are all in for a third candidate.
Article mentions Ross Perot who did have an impact.
Isn’t his name spelled Ev McMuffin?
Wasn’t Amash in favor of impeaching Trump?
First Republican congressman to call for the impeachment of Trump. No Sale. No Way.
Lets do something different this time, lets elect a lawyer turned career politician!
It’s the only way out of this dumpster fire.
In 1860 a third party won the presidency. The Republican Party.
He is only viewed as an extremist because of fake news.
Yes I think he did but would that hurt him?
Look at the poll numbers. D’s by a higher percentage would look at an indy candidate rather than Joe
