Illinois has red flag laws, and it was used against this guy a couple of years ago when he was threatening people. But there's a limit as to what the laws can do.
It goes back to the fact that criminals do not obey laws because they want to commit crimes. A red flag law might have stopped him from buying a gun legally in his State, but it can’t stop him from obtaining a weapon illegally.
We are finding out now that this guy had other run ins with the law and also made threats to kill people before . He has many freakish videos out there too.
All of that should have been a red flag. But is wasn’t.
