That’s quick for DNA. I bet he left all the spent brass covered with his fingerprints along with the rifle he purchased over the counter. They could trace both of those fast.
The real question is how did his DNA get into the system in the first place?
They said the weapon was legally purchased, which means he had no criminal record... which is one way to get your DNA into the system. The other is to be a victim, particularly of sexual assault.
