Anti-Semitism was pretty common in Europe. The Nazis had little trouble in getting people to gladly rat out Jews in many of their occupied territories.

Denmark was one occupied nation that officially looked after Danish Jews. Danes helped them escape to Sweden, resisted helping the Germans to round up Jews and actually making official inquires as to the status of the relatively few Danish Jews who were sent to concentration camps.

Then, of course there was the Polish woman, Irena Sendler who rescued over 2,000 Jewish children. She was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize but lost to Al Gore’s climate slide show.
