Florida GOP Sen. Rick Scott charts contrarian path to future political endeavors
Washington Examiner via MSN ^ | 7/4/22 | Sarah Westwood

Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) has managed some rare feats. He’s been accused by Senate GOP leadership of hurting the party’s chances in the midterm elections while at the same time presiding over a campaign fundraising haul for the party so large that leadership has no choice but to celebrate it.

He’s united Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and President Joe Biden in opposition to his agenda.

And the former Florida governor and current chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee has worked to position himself as an outsider that would presumably accompany an ultimate insider.

I don't think Scott has a chance because he tends to be his own worst enemy at times.

Scott would be the ideal VP for Trump. If God forbid anything were to happen to 45/47 he has the skill set to execute.

Keeps DeSantis in Tallahassee... where he can name Scott’s replacement. Scott can return to Florida and bounce Rubio from the Senate in 2028 as Ron goes for POTUS.

Scott wants to be president, not vice president. I don't see him taking the second spot under any circumstances.

For sure! He also has had a tendency to inadvertently give the ‘RATS ammunition to use against Republicans generally.

Come on, Senator Scott, let’s have a little less self-centeredness before this November’s elections.

Understandable reaction reading anything published in a never-trump billionaire endowed publication like the Washington Examiner, which in itself serves little purpose than to divide republicans under the pretext of journalism.

Trump’s veep must:
1) Be totally MAGA. Scott is not
2) Be so unimportant as to not be missed at the state level. I wouldn’t miss Scott but can’t have him replaced by a DemoKKKrat or another Rubes.
3) Cannot have major political ambitions because barring a series of screwups, DeSantis is next up in the batter’s box.

This means, probably, a House member from a deep red district.

Rick Scott was a great Governor.

So far, he is a piss poor Senator.

His plan is laughable and plays right into the Dems hands, giving them a tax hike bogeyman to attack.

Poor leadership will always come in and immediately react. They always forget the Asses phase before acting. Scott needs to cut his losses, and cut the imbecilic ads. Time to go away and allow people time to forget how stupidly he as acted. Then make a comeback, later.

Scott was a good governor. He did bend a little too much for my taste. He promised to do something about illegals working on the state, but it seems there was nothing done. I think Disney and the tourist industry in Orlando had something to do with that; a lot of non-English speakers work in the hotels there...I could be wrong.

He also bent over for the reactionary gun grabber bill after the Parkland murderer, let loose by Democrat LEOs and school officials went on his lunatic rampage.

OTOH, he did make our state more economically healthy while Obama was ruining our nation’s outlook.

I’d give him a B as governor. And compared to Bill Nelson, the Democrat hack he replaced in the Senate? Rick Scott gets an A+.

Irritates Mitch? That is a positive.

But he isn’t a President...a tall, lanky bald fella that is a bit too stumbly. Of course he is smarter and better than Sleepy or Kamal on the stump, but I just don’t see him as a nominee. He looks uncomfortable in the public eye. He is a great administrator, though.
