JEFFERSON CITY — Gov. Mike Parson signed a bill containing a number of changes to elections and voting, including a requirement to have a government-issued photo ID, into law Wednesday.
House Bill 1878 also allows for two weeks of early in-person voting without needing an excuse, bans drop boxes for absentee ballots, allows the Secretary of State to audit voter rolls, bans private donations to election authorities and eliminates Missouri's presidential preference primary.
"In 2020 and years prior, Missouri has conducted free, fair, and secure elections, but with changing technologies and new emerging threats, we want to ensure they remain that way," Parson said. "HB 1878 strengthens our election processes and gives Missourians confidence that their voices are being accurately and securely recorded at the ballot box."
The law marks the third attempt at Republicans in Missouri to institute a photo ID requirement to vote, after previous tries were found unconstitutional and gutted by the courts. Current Missouri law requires a form of ID, whether that be a driver's license or utility bill, but does not require a photo ID.

Under the law, the secretary of state is allowed to audit voter registration records of any local election authority. Those authorities are also forbidden from accepting private donations — a measure that stemmed from Republican concerns about dollars from a foundation connected to Mark Zuckerberg that was active during the 2020 election. Candidates, campaigns and other political entities would also not be able to make "in-kind" donations to poll workers (which could include food, water or other goods and services).

Hey Gov the Liberal World Order does not allow this ,LOL
Not especially free, fair, and secure elections.
Unless you don't wonder where 250,000 Obama "voters" went between 2008 and 2012...
With St. Louis and KC, you have your 0bama voters. Missouri is in a tough place. Without those two cities, MO is red.
One addition could help fend off a legal challenge. As with other states, include a “poverty” provision, so that if you cannot afford a government picture ID, one will be given to you for free.
To reduce fraud, require a thumbprint on a free ID.
1 down 49 to go.
This is has been a great 2 weeks for conservatives! Red tide approaching.
...bans private donations to election authorities
—
What’s the world coming to when you can bribe, er donate, to election authorities?
This law will cause mental anguish to people who identify as vampires as they will be forced to accept they really aren’t vampires if they want to vote.
The 15th Amendment actually demands proof of citizenship.before it can be exercised.
Without those two cities, MO is red.
Man thats racist, because we all know that black people are too stupid to have a drivers license.
Always wondered what it would be like to live there. I visited there way back in the early 1980’s near Joplin.
Photo...Shmoto...
Here in MD I’d be happy if they would just require that the voter speak & read English...
The long lines at the poll would go away if there were no interpreters instructing thousands of MIVs on how to vote...
Another thing would be to blockade the state line with DC... Stopping the bus loads of DC residents from getting to the MD polls would also reduce the length of voting lines...
Missouri 2008 McCain Obama 1,445,814 1,441,911 Missouri 2012 Romney Obama 1,482,440 1,223,796
Note that Zero lost Missouri by 3,900 "votes" in 2008.
Then he lost it by 259,000 votes in 2012, losing 218,000 "votes" off his 2008 Missouri total.
A suspicious person would say that some "entity" had decided that Missouri was a lost cause in presidential politics, and spent the 2012 Get Out The Cheat money in some other more fruitful state...
It has been. But, I don’t like the new EPA regulation taking place in west Texas and New Mexico.
Excellent. Now cut the voting down to 12 hours on one day,
and eliminate all off site voting other than absentee
voting.
Leftists don’t want photo ID requirements, because they subject criminals to the possibility of being arrested. Modern photo ID are subjected to analysis by artificial intelligence systems to weed out duplicates. Also anyone for whom there is an outstanding arrest warrant could be subject to arrest when getting an ID renewed.
It seems that Governor Parsons wants to put ‘em all back in chains!
