CNN's ratings continue to slip in primetime to their lowest numbers in seven years, despite a public about face on sensationalism and opinion shows under new boss Chris Licht.
The network, promised by Licht to 'go a different way' during a time 'where extremes are dominating cable news', appear to still be in the tank even during a month that saw the blockbuster January 6 hearings.
Despite the hearings, which drew tens of millions of viewers across multiple networks, CNN had fewer viewers in June than it did in May, which continued a months-long downward slope for the network since the invasion of Ukraine lifted them in March.

Yep. New guy made their base leave. Now it’s a rebuilding effort.
CNN made it’s bones during the first Gulf War, though it’d been around for years prior. It’ll need to provide some coverage like that again to differentiate itself from the pack.
Saying is not doing, Mr Licht. You have the same faces spewing the same garbage on CNN. When you start doing, maybe you will find an audience other than the few crickets watching your station now.
How can you claim you are turning away from extremes if you are giving the 1/6 thing an ounce of air time?
I mean this literally at this point is, “What would happen if the high school cheerleading team could hold a tribunal to find out why the cute boy one of them wanted to date didn’t ask them out.” And honestly I’m probably being way too generous in that analogy.
You move closer to a real news station when you don’t know the name of the guy reading the news from a sheet of paper. One guy, one desk, one chair, one sheet of paper. That’s all it takes. And you can pay him minimum wage.
All their viewers went to CNN+ and disappeared into the black hole it became when it collapsed.
It’s the competition from the pre-season Canadian curling and those Green Acres re-runs.

In fact, people pay CNN about a dollar a month via their cable or satellite TV bill. A billion or so a year covers a lot of overhead without even running any ads. It’s like a restaurant being paid by a city just for opening the doors everyday regardless of whether the food is any good.
Of course, eventually lower ratings could get translated into reduced carriage fees - IF Comcast, AT&T, Charter, Dish, and the rest want to. How badly do you think they want to hurt CNN?

Sorry Chris, evil permeates CNN and the only way to cure it is disband it and start over.
If he can stand his course, he may even succeed.
If he pulls back, then they are out of business for sure.
At that moment they will loose everybody!
I am not going to listen now, but if some freepers volunteer to watch and certify that they indeed are worth listening, I would give them a try.

CNN is run and programmed by the Deep State. Watch for a couple of hours and all the usual suspects show up on your screen.
