Before the invasion, NATO expanded from 12 members to 30 members, with 2 pending.

“Had Putin not invaded Ukraine we wouldn’t be expanding NATO..............”

That’s simply not true. NATO added 15 members after lying to Gorbachev and prior to any move (other than Soros/Obama) into Ukraine.

......after you modernday Putin and Russia, Russia fans finish reading this “Nato Expansion” What Gorbachev heard article posted by Preston you can find some context by reading the link below which is all about what fine gentlemen Stalin and Lenin were.

I AGREE that GHW Bush shouldn’t have been making promises to these killers of millions but I also contend that future generations shouldn’t worry too much about “promises made” to mass killers like Stalin and Lenin and now Putin.

Most of those eastern european countries that we've allowed into NATO would be useless in a real war and are really only good as tripwires to drag us into a war.

George Washington, in his farewell address, cautioned his fellow countrymen to "beware of foreign entanglements".

The premise always seems to work in one direction, though. That is, no matter what, the United States either holds the moral high ground or is an innocent victim of someone else's duplicity; no matter how many countries we invade or provoke to a fight, we're right and they're wrong.

First, the authors of this crap are Svetlana Savranskaya and Tom Blanton.

Second, for the umpteenth time, Gorbachev in a 2014 interview said: The topic of “NATO expansion” was not discussed at all, and it wasn’t brought up in those years. I say this with full responsibility. Not a singe Eastern European country raised the issue, not even after the Warsaw Pact ceased to exist in 1991. Western leaders didn’t bring it up, either. Another issue we brought up was discussed: making sure that NATO’s military structures would not advance and that additional armed forces from the alliance would not be deployed on the territory of the then-GDR after German reunification. Baker’s statement, mentioned in your question, was made in that context.

If the North Atlantic Treaty Organization brought down the Soviet Union, what purpose does it presently serve, outside of representing a neo-pagan West facing a country moving steadily back to Christianity, and providing lucrative business deals for weapons manufacturers in that same neo-pagan West?

Providing lucrative business deals for weapons manufacturers is their main reason for existence..................

“... In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.” - excerpt from President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s Farewell Address (1961)

In other words, it's all a construct.

While we may hope and pray that our republic survives, the empire can't come apart fast enough.
