You should avoid spoilers in the comments, but even his version didn't crack Top 40 in the U.S. (Patti LaBelle did have a small hit).
It is big in the UK the same way "Kiss Him Goodbye (nanaheyhey)" is here. It is big in Liverpool Soccer. Shirley Jones sang it better. Gerry and Co. take all the life out of it. LaBelle's version is fine, but it is a soul version.
