A new ad for Wyoming Republican Rep. Liz Cheney features former Republican Sen. Alan Simpson, a political icon in the state, backing Cheney's re-election.
But in an interview with NBC News about the ad, the Wyoming political giant minced few words about his frustration with former President Donald Trump, who is backing a primary challenge against Cheney over her repeated criticism of the former president.
In the ad, Simpson joins a handful of others — including prominent Wyoming politicians — with a simple message: "Join me in voting for Liz Cheney on August 16th," Simpsons says, while the screen simply identifies him as "Al."

He was one of the good ol' go-along boys.
His vote was always there when the Democrats needed one.
I think Al was an ally of Bush/Cheney - no surprise.

No one under the age of 50 knows who he is. Anyone over the age of 50 thought he was dead.
And he should be taken out and executed for treason. He started the whole immigration mess so many years ago. Has he no shame?
Liz Cheney, on TV now, not doing herself any good for the campaign coming up.
Her congressional career days are numbered.
Malcolm Wallop was the good Senator from Wyoming. “Al” was a chump.
Simpson was, I think after Orin Hatch, the first to break this pattern. He turned out to be almost as big of a disappointment as Liz Cheney of Virginia.
Simpson was the thorn in Reagan’s side that hassled him relentlessly until he agreed to the 1986 amnesty bill. So called Simpson-Mazzoli bill. Real prince, that guy.
The guy looked 91 in 1985.
“No one under the age of 50 knows who he is. Anyone over the age of 50 thought he was dead.”
Right!
.
Holy Geriatric Attack, Batman!
And lots of us still remember Simpson-Mazzoli which was Amnesty #1 that led to massive chain immigration.
Simpson always pretended to be conservative while explaining why he was going to vote for yet another far Left backstab.
In 1986 the illegal immigrant population was supposedly 1.6 million. It turned out to be more like 3 million (because that’s how many applied for amnesty). On average, each one of them brought in 3 new LEGAL immigrants on “family reunification” petitions, and typically at least 2-3 more ILLEGAL immigrants since they now had someone to tag up with when they got here.
Simpering Simpson helped destroy the US. No shock that he wants Princess Cheney to help finish the job.
He always said, “Just vote for the Republicans.”
Why not also wheel out the “pride” of Idaho, retired U.S. Senator Larry “Wide Stance” Craig? Surely the good senator would be “happy” to endorse Ms. Cheney.
“The guy looked 91 in 1985.”
John Warner wasn’t able to endorse Cheney because he’s dead.
Arlen Specter wasn’t able to endorse Cheney because he’s dead.
Richard Lugar wasn’t able to endorse Cheney because he’s dead.
Bill Roth wasn’t able to endorse Cheney because he’s dead.
She did the best she could.
Wide-stance Larry Craig
House of misfit weasels.
Eek. I’ve said it before in this forum, but there is WAYYYYYY too much RINO talk around here.
You all know perfectly well that one of Reagan’s first rules was: no one talks bad about a fellow republican. I thought that was an awesome rule.
You all do NOT seem to know that political success requires compromise. If any one of us alone had to write a new Constitution, I’m sure every one of them, even if written with the help of the best lawyers that could be acquired, would be different. We all have slightly different ideals. No one is going to get everything he wants.
Wouldn’t it be awesome if we just left the definition of Republican to the voters in the individual districts? If someone is running as a Republican, and that person’s voters elect them as a Republican, you know... end of discussion. That person is a Republican.
The end of RINO talk would have another benefit as well. It would make the Republican party much stronger than it is... and much more attractive as a result. There’s a limit, of course, but the two feed on each other, up to a point.
Please. No more RINO talk.
I know, I know... I’m just tilting at windmills...
Welcome to FR.
Defender of RINOs.
Yes...Wallop was excellent. Good memory.
