Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas signaled his willingness on Monday to undo a 1964 ruling that makes it difficult to sue media outlets for libel.
The conservative justice, who was one of five votes to overturn the landmark abortion ruling Roe v. Wade on Friday, issued a dissenting opinion after the high court refused to hear a case brought by a Christian group that sued the Southern Poverty Law Center.

The splc should be sued out of existence.
I don’t know how any fair person could disagree, since the news media by & large has become a politically partisan tool.
Yup. Get your reporting correct before you ruin someone’s life or career.
both that ADL and SPLC should be sued into the ground, and everyone who works for them should be charged with “hate crimes” and sent to prison.
And charge them with insurrection. Put them in solitary for 7 months. Take their retirement savings, their homes and ruin them. People like that can never come back.
I like this guy more every day.
Should be instead of intentional (malice) some leave of careless or failure to investigate or mischaracterize would be enough to be libel.
As I remember, this group was opposed to homosexual marriage. So publishing Thomas’ opinions could be a thought crime or “Nazi” act. It’s a deliberate destruction of those with whom they disagree politically.
excellent
What a gem JCT is!
WOW - this is a direct assault on the woke progressive priesthood!
Thomas is one of the best Justices ever IMO, even better than Scalia.
Thomas sticks faithfully to the Constitution as written and originally understood and intended. Scalia believed in limited, constitutional government, but was all over the map with the rationale of his opinions as the basis for a decision even more than sound application of the Constitution.
I would add the ACLU to your list.
No wonder Biden tried his EVIL best to keep Thomas off the Supreme Court.
and that’s just it. You get your life story published with a bunch of errors and outright lies by the media and its on the Internet forever. Future employers find it and see that you are being called a racist, or whatever the derogatory term du jour is, and won’t hire you. Never mind that a retraction was published. Never mind that its was all a bunch of lies because you took a principled stand for something entirely different and essentially innocuous. Its out there for anyone to find and judge you by, and could ultimately cost you millions of dollars in life-time salary.
Ruined life for legitimate NO REASON.
Easy example of this: George Zimmerman. Framed as murdering a black kid just because of racism. Actual fact is, he was being beat by this black kid and pulled a gun AFTER his nose was splattered across his face. He felt he was going to die and killed the guy attacking him. Whether he was following the kid on a dark rainy night is irrelevant to what actually happened. Then the media (NBC News) doctored the 911 call to make it sound like he was only going after the kid because he was black, when what really happened was that the 911 operator asked a direct question- What’s this guy look like, is he white, black, describe him.
is splc short for hisplanic?
Our media is like the essential instruments in an airplane that’s flying with no visibility. Citizens can’t see directly what’s going on in the world at large. The accuracy of our media instrument is more important than ever.
Pretty much gave up lame stream after Cronkite lied.
Souther Poverty Law Center
Many many many professions can get sued if we don’t do our jobs correctly, why should the media be exempt?
