Historically a strong Gulf hurricane would trigger a 20% - 25% price spike lasting about two weeks.

OMGoodness. Deep State overlords would love that! I’m sure they’re licking their chops at the thought of this happening.

When hurricane Irma hit a gallon of premium went through the roof...$3.45.
When hurricane Brandon hit a gallon of premium hit $5.75.
One was a natural event, the other a man made disaster.

Every time Brandon goes into the Strategic Petroleum Reserves my comment to my husband is “Now what happens if a hurricane hits the Gulf?”

Five years ago Hurricane Harvey jacked PA prices from $2.39 to $2.89 in a couple of days.
Price never returned to pre-Harvey levels until early December 2018.
So at today’s prices a hurricane could at about 85 cents/gallon...pushing $6.00 in these parts.
