How? Does Putin in danger of losing support from United States or Europe? Wait, there is no support, it is just the opposite. We are prolonging this war by sending $56 Billion to Ukraine, monry which we do not have and had to borrow and pile on to the already fugly high national debt.
The entire strategy of the US and NATO is to prolong the war, so that Russia gets bogged down there. (After all, Ukraine can't really win militarily against a nuclear power, but they could outlast Russia, as we've seen in numerous other wars, like Vietnam, and like Afghanistan twice over.)
The idea is to weaken Russia and try to ensure that the death and destruction aren't in European countries that we care about more than Ukraine.
Bottom line: This isn't intended to be for Ukraine, but for western Europe.
Just to be clear: I don't think this is working any more than anything else under Biden (the sanctions also appear to be a disaster) or that it's in our interest, but thinking of our policy as trying to help the Ukrainian people is a mistake. That's not what it's intended to be, in spite of official US rhetoric.
