Based on a casual reading of the polls, Donald Trump looks to have smooth sailing to the Republican presidential nomination in 2024 and the chance to erase the stink of losing to Joe Biden that he so covets. But if that’s the case, why does Trump seem so panicky these days? Simple: Trump is in trouble, and — when you dig into the numbers — his grip on the GOP nomination is getting more tenuous. It is Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) who has all the momentum.

Another feeble attempt to divide the base, more like.
They just don’t give up do they. They hate the idea of 12 years of conservative presidents. If only they wish hard enough they can cut that down to 8 maximum. Just squeeze your eyes tight and keep thinking people are stupid.
Welcome to Free Republic.
They’ll never stop against Trump. Fake news BS. Opinion here if Trump runs, De Santis will wait till ‘28.
Complete and utter BS. The Hill is leftist tripe and Naughton is low IQ moron incapable of critical thinking, just like 99% of journalists that can barely write at the sixth-grade level.
TROLL ALLERT! TROLL ALERT! Back to Democratic Underground for you.
If Trump runs, I don’t think DeSantis will. His current FL Governor election would take him to 2028.
That’s the best for FL and the US.
Exactly my feelings.
Interesting, but there are a lot of things in their interpretation of the data that could be questioned. It's Trump's party and Trump's nomination. I don't see that changing.
Can DeSantis bring in 15,000 at a rally like Trump can?
“ Interesting analysis.”

It’s simply more of the Globalist media trying to stir up animosity between Trump fans and DeSantis fans when considering 2024. Some are STUPID and GULLIBLE enough to buy it.😿🥰
Only if you are interested in total bullshit. This is just the leftist media trying to sell DeSantis as a "Trump superior" alternative.
Thanks, but no thanks.
“Another feeble attempt to divide the base, more like.”
I agree.
Creepy liberals are trying to stir the pot. If they spent more like talking about their own party we might not have a corrupt President with dementia.
> Another feeble attempt to divide the base, more like.
Yep. DeSantis has said he won’t run if Trump runs. Sounds pretty simple to me.
Figures.
Ah....I see. If a person is a conservative, but not a Trump worshiper, they are a Democrat. I’ve been a Jeffersonian conservative, probably longer than you have been alive. Moving the conservative movement forward comes first with me, but it doesn’t with Trump. Satisfying his ego comes first with Trump. He proved that a number of times, most recently when he said it was ok with him if Stacy Abrams becomes governor of the swing state of GA. That’s what the conservative movement needs - Stacy Abrams controlling the voting process in GA. I’ll vote for whoever the Rep nominee is, but Trump is definitely not my first choice, or second, or third for that matter.
You forgot the “NeverTrumpers”. We do still have them here on FR. You know, the “mean tweets” crowd.
