New Mexico’s current abortion laws are now attracting the Mississippi clinic at the center of the Supreme Court’s decision on Roe v. Wade Friday.
Last month, Mississippi’s only abortion clinic announced it would consider moving to New Mexico if the Supreme Court overturned the ruling. Now, that consideration is a reality.
“We’re not laying down, we’re not giving up,” said Diane Derzis, owner of the the Jackson Women’s Health Organization, known as the Pink House. “Women have always had abortions no matter what it took, even if it was their life, and we’re gonna make sure that’s not on the line here.”
Her clinic went to the court to challenge the Mississippi abortion ban.
Following the decision, the clinic has confirmed to KOB 4 that it is moving operations to a new building in Las Cruces as early as next week.
Executive Director Shannon Brewer appeared virtually at a news conference Friday in Mississippi – from the new location in New Mexico.
“We have been preparing but nothing can really prepare you for the actual day that it comes down,” Brewer said.
Brewer told NBC News last month the the ruling will affect women who need care the most – not women who have the financial means to travel to get an abortion anywhere.
“Gun control is out of hand and this is what you’re focusing on, women?” she said. “Taking over women and controlling their body? You’re never gonna make that right for me.”
Brewer might be moving her fight – but said stopping the fight is not an option.
“I will continue to fight for women wherever I am. Wherever I’m gonna be. I’m going to continue to do this because I know this is what I was meant to do.”
Do it.
Uproot and go to ALL of the blue states.
Sounds like a plan.
I think they should move to Old Mexico and permanently 🤪
Bring wampum for casinos.
Stadium deal? /sarc
New Mexico has been ‘Red’ in the past, before the clerks started manipulating the ballots. I don’t like this one bit.
Don't get me started on how we forced abortion on Japan in 1947.
Tards moving in to whack the Indian tribes.
Something wrong with all of this picture.
They just need to kill.
I agree. These liberals want to take gun rights away from citizens and now this. They’d surely take away the bow and arrow from Indians if they could.
We’re hoping for a mass exodus of the California carpetbaggers out of Texas.
“We’re hoping for a mass exodus of the California carpetbaggers out of Texas”.
Good luck but don’t let any of them come to Colorado.
Maryland, the “free state”, will wholesale disregard both SCOTUS “wins”.
We should change our motto to “No Guns But Dead Babies” and just be done with it.
Weren’t all these “clinics” saying that abortions were just a small part of their “reproductive health” services?
Why stop in New Mexico?
Why not keep going to Cuba, Haiti or Somalia?
“Ma.” Dermis spent years killing babies (and mothers) in Alabama before she was finally closed down. What an evil woman.
“Well, bye.”
I am personally gratified that the least wealthy state in the Union, the “poors” strata and minority populations that the progressives claim abortion was supposed to “help”, brought this ugliness to it’s end.
Abortion was a progressive pogrom on the poor and the ethnic, as a dodge for their own convenience and consequence-free life choices.
Commies make me sick.
If this clinic had not challenged Mississippi’s 15 week rule this case would not have come before the court.
In simple terms this woman decided to push the issue. She got stomped into the mud , and took the rest of the baby killers with her.
Let’s make her birthday a national holiday.
New Mexico has always been a haven for abortionists. Even before RVW many Texas women traveled there to have their babies dismembered and ripped from the placentation that kept the foetus alive.
