The House of Representatives passed the bipartisan gun control package Friday afternoon sending it to President Joe Biden's desk.
In a vote of 234 to 193, with the help of 14 Republicans, the House followed the Senate's lead in green-lighting the legislation - the most significant firearms bill passed in decades.
...
The 14 GOP lawmakers to vote in favor of the bill included January 6 committee members - Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger - along with Reps. Tom Rice, John Katko, Maria Salazr, Chris Jacobs, Brian Fitzpatrick, Peter Meijer, Fred Upton, Steve Chabot, Mike Turner, David Joyce, Athony Gonzalez of Ohio and Tony Gonzalez.
...
McConnell had argued that the bipartisan compromise package would have no impact on Americans' Second Amendment rights.

Sure Mitchy, sure
Bush League Republicans showing once again that they are nothing more than Assistant Democrats.
Fact that SCOTUS delivered their gun rights bomb a couple of days ago ,gun rights will go back to court....OVER AND OVER AGAIN.......
At this point, what difference does it make.
Thank to ol’ Clarence, Orthodox Jews in Brooklyn will be packing Glocks and the anti-Semitic attacks will soon come to a swift end, no thanks to Eric Adams.
My mind has been playing tricks on me lately. This GOP stuff (maybe the elephant symbolism) reminds me of an animal documentary I saw long ago. A reigning elephant was dying and then died. By lowlight video the show let viewers see the late night actions in which former second place and rivals and young male elephants all timidly and creepingly came up to the corpse, smelled it, touched it carefully, then urinated. Then they pranced around showing they weren’t afraid the leader (once assured he was dead).
Isn’t that like the RINOs are trying to do with Trump?
BUT....he isn’t dead. Not by a long shot.
This is more than just the Second Amendment. It also includes due process of the Fifth Amendment.
Let this one through and you could find yourself without firearms (just this for now), later on maybe your house, kids or your car.
All it takes is for one person to say you’re dangerous and without your knowledge you could lose your guns.
Someone says you sell drugs from you home? Without even knowing bam! you’re on the street.
What if someone says you might run over people with your car as happened in Wisconsin? Next thing you know the police are taking your car.
What if some anonymous person says you are transphobic, maybe you go to a church that teaches traditional Christian values? They show up for your kids.
You’ll never know until the police are at your door. You will never be able to cross-examine the accuser. You will not be able to bring witnesses to testify in your behalf.
This opens up a huge can of worms.
Republicans really are the stupid party.
Crazy isn’t it? My brother and I were just talking about this yesterday. Not a day goes by since 2020 that his name isn’t used and the leftists keep trying to diminish him. It’s comical in a way. They are psychotic ...
What do they care what Trump wants? When have they ever really cared? They faked it when he was in office. They'll fake it if Trump gets elected in 2024. They'll never like, respect, or fear him.
Wow! All that is in this bill?
And the RNC still keeps filling the mailbox begging for donations. Nope!
Oh, didn’t notice. We’ll survive this, or have it thrown out.
Hi.
Between you and me, I have stopped following gun laws since 1967.
5.56mm
Yep, I foresee many more lawsuits coming at the USSC.
Nope. But it is a precedent.
If they can remove your gun based off an anonymous source without ever having a hearing with you and your attorney involved who’s to say they can’t take other things away from you?
That’s why this strikes directly at the Fifth Amendment.
They are psychotic.
?????
They call me a cultist...lol
If you are a protected person or perhaps iff you are woke enough, you can run over your baby mama with your car. Then the judge will let you out on bail even after you already jumped bail, assaulted a police officer, etc. You get out on $1,000 cash bail, then mow down dozens at the parade with the same car.
What if you are a protected gang banger with a gun? Almost the same , except you get out with no bail and you get $1,000 a month until you shoot somewhen else at which point they stop paying you.
Now, what if you are a deplorable with no record but have a vindictive ex. They can already ban you from possessing and the new law make it even easier for the police to show up at your door
You’ll never know until the police are at your door. You will never be able to cross-examine the accuser. You will not be able to bring witnesses to testify in your behalf.
That's true.
This opens up a huge can of worms.
The can is already wide open. It is anarcho-tyranny where you get prosecuted for minor infractions (or no infractions) and the gang bangers get off and even get benefits.
Try to collect on this one. The “red flag” laws have yet to be tested in court, in regards to the “due process”. The person subjected to the effects of this law STILL should have the opportunity to confront the accuser, and the process of seizing firearms should still have to meet the test of whether a clear and present danger does in fact exist.
NOT just because some neighbor does not like somebody possessing firearms.
“after McConnell and other Republicans defy Trump and vote for the bill”
I think they really mean “defy the vast majority of their constituents” here.
