Hmmmmm.... Agree and disagree... The most prominent candidate other than Trump 6 years ago was Cruz. IF he had won, I believe the decision would have been the same. Indeed, I suspect it likely that 2 of those justices would have been nominated by Cruz.
Nevertheless, I agree that Trump or another very conservative Republican President (along with McConnell) was essential ingredient.
