Fifty years ago today, Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 was signed into law, prohibiting schools or educational programs that receive federal funding from discriminating against anyone on the basis of sex. In that time, women have made incredible gains in education, which, in turn, have led to incredible gains in labor and employment — perhaps most visibly in sports.

Title nine has ruined boy’s sports in many locals where there aren’t enough girls who actually want to play.

Why is that? Not enough girls for a girls team, so no boys team is allowed?

Dunno, I lost a lot of respect when Trump endorsed career democrat now RINO, Dr. Oz. He seems to be spending his capital on people that support him, vs people that move the needle in the conservative direction. He seemed to follow a similar vien when in office surrounding himself with yes men, vs those that wanted actual conservative positions to move forward. The party is broken in may cases where winning and power (but will not use it) is more important then actions, but to reform the party to be only Trump supporters is also fraught with danger.

That is correct. Many mens teams, like swimming, wrestling, gymnastics were disbanded. The colleges could not afford to present equal scholarships to equal numbers of men and women students. Football draws a ton of scholarship money, so that had to be made up with scholarships for women. This is also worse because women sport bring in little ticket sales or other funding by previous graduates to help offset the costs.
