On Thursday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Steve Rattner, who served as counselor to the Treasury Secretary in the Obama administration, stated that there is a bit of “schizophrenia” in our energy policy where “We’ve been discouraging oil companies from maintaining refineries or opening new ones. Because we theoretically are going to transition away from gasoline.” But the problem is, there was a “misjudgment as to how long of a transition it was going to be and what we needed to do to make the transition work.”
Rattner stated that “refining capacity has gone down” due to refineries shutting down since the pandemic, but “the rest of the ones that are left are running at full capacity.” And “As much as can be refined is being refined.”
He later added, “The problem is that, of the five [refineries that have shut down], one had a fire, one had some kind of explosion. You cannot simply — these are not simply things you can turn on like a car. It takes months, it costs tens or hundreds of millions of dollars. And by the way, this is, again, a little bit of the schizophrenia. We’ve been discouraging oil companies from maintaining refineries or opening new ones. Because we theoretically are going to transition away from gasoline. But we, again, made a misjudgment as to how long of a transition it was going to be and what we needed to do to make the transition work.”

And, they refused to listen to the true experts but instead listened to the green energy-producing fairies who told them the “transition” would happen magically.
And the other 800,000 of reduced refinery capacity which was blamed on COVID? That was based on business decisions and not government regulation.
You’re right Nathan.
Most people don’t ‘transition’ away from something until they have something to ‘transition’ to.
No: society should mold it's government. If society wants to transition from gasoline to electric, it will happen. If society does it, it will be the result of billions of individual decisions that are arrived at from trillions of input facts. When central planners make such decisions they create the mess that we see today. With their hubris set upon a foundation of ignorance, they are certain to fail to see the big picture - welcome to Socialism.
“Secretary in the Obama administration, stated that there is a bit of “schizophrenia” in our energy policy”
There’s a HUGE amount of schizophrenia in *all* libtard policies and now we suffer for their foolish idiot decisions 🤪
Nice to see one of the turds admit it after it’s too late
Due to Refineries Shutting Down = Biden gives Bow
Hitch hikers to out number border crossers.
Misjudgment, yes. But not about the timeframe to transition-misjudgment on the backlash against you it created.
Global inflation is a lie. The only nations with high inflation are run by liberals period dont BS a BSer foolish thinking...
Who gives af about you?? Let’s talk about the morons in office now...
Is it?
“Discouraged?”
BS. You jackass watermelons basically outlawed them.
uhh yeah. You Gaia worshipers have systematically sabotaged our energy sector. The next Trump administration needs to reverse all of your policies 180 degrees on day one.
“Energy independence” shouldn’t necessarily be the target. From an economic standpoint, we should always import oil as we can add value to it. The USA was a NET EXPORTER of oil in 2020 meaning we shipped more oil and refined fuels than we imported for the first time in my lifetime. That’s a big deal and the Biden administration is doing everything it can to make sure that doesn’t happen again.
So true. Morons.
I know, I'll be waiting a long time. However, I really believe that in 10 years, it will be commonly known and begrudgingly admitted by even Democrats and their MSM mouthpieces that the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump.
All these ‘’mea culpas’’ now are just window dressing for the midterms.
“We’re sorry we f***ed things up. Please give us another chance’’.
“Democrats and leftists misjudge everything because they are stupid.”
People who produce nothing, but depend on taking from others, understand nothing about production of anything. Given the unproductive responsibility for regulating the productive, and redistributing the production of the productive, will have predictable results — low efficiency and less output.
Exactly.🙄
Sorry we killed the economy. Our bad.
Followed by asserting this is the best economy ever.
Bump!
