2024 poll: DeSantis edges Trump in New Hampshire, which holds the first presidential primary

DURHAM, N.H. – A public opinion survey in New Hampshire, the state that for a century has held the first primary in presidential race, indicates that Florida Gov. Gov. Ron DeSantis has a razor-thin margin over former President Donald Trump in a hypothetical 2024 GOP primary match-up.

According to polling numbers released on Wednesday by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, 39% of likely Republican primary voters in the Granite State would support the first-term Florida governor, with 37% backing the former president. Respondents were provided a list of potential contenders for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, and DeSantis margin was well within the survey’s sampling error.

I think we’re already in a civil war. An Administrative one.

While I do think there will be violence in the very near future on a scale most won’t believe possible, it isn’t going to be the Rebs vs the Union Army.

At the end of the day the entire country would collapse and the Left, while they can riot and loot without consequence in Democrat controlled cities, isn’t really capable of anything more. They have to get back to their iPhones, microbrews and hipster neighborhoods.

His wing has only been small, but why’ve been in control and, for some odd reason, no on has really challenged them. Pretty obvious that the RNC, NRCC, big money PACs and donors run the show.

DJT beat them at their own game.

Let’s get through ‘22 first. If the left manages to successfully rig the midterms, ‘24 elections might not matter, or even happen.

Thinking about this. The only way the 25% of the party wins is if they can get enough MAGA in the race. DeSantis doesn’t have to beat Trump, he just has to pull some votes from Trump and give the mitch wing a path. If it’s Trump v the Mitch wing then it’s game over. If Trump doesn’t run then the vote will be split between DeSantis, Pompeo, Namrata, Cruz and Rand. All of that vote goes to Trump if he runs. The Mitch wing will consolidation with Pence the Traitor or Christie the Bridge and they have a real path. This is their play. That’s how you get stock with Romney and McCain. If you think all of Trump’s votes go to DeSantis if Trump doesn’t run you are very mistaken, Trump’s coalition is very broad and diverse. Not all hard-core conservative like some would have you believe (see Dr. OZ)

“it isn’t going to be the Rebs vs the Union Army”

I doubt anyone expects the 2 sides to line up like Gettysburg and go at it, more likely there would be the occasional political assassinations or members of the media being taken out, while various political mechanizations take place, like states wanting to opt out of the Union, or at least be able to go their own way when it comes to certain issues.

Trump has become way too polarizing to the far left.

Good idea to let the far left screen our candidates for us. I'm sure they'll be nice to DeSantis.

One of Trumps problems is that he gives his haters so much ammunition , with reckless gaffes and careless behavior like his poorly planned Covid press conferences where he shot from the hip and let Fauci contradict him. Desantis is 100 times more disciplined.

Trump has become way too polarizing to the far left. I believe even the legitimate votes Biden got were really just votes against Trump, and the hate was over the top.

I don't really care if you polarizes the far left. The problem is I think he is too polarizing for too many swing voters.

I live near a big city, and have friends/acquaintances everywhere on the political spectrum except the hard left. There are fair number of people, especially educated younger people, who have simply tuned Trump out. They might vote for another Republican, but there are no circumstances under which they'd ever vote for Trump. And that's based on policy - it's based on the various statements he's made over the years they feel are offensive or ignorant.

That isn't fixable with those voters. Their votes may be against their own interests, or even irrational, but that doesn't matter. An irrational vote is counted just the same as a rational vote.

I believe things are going to be bad enough by 2024 that we will have the opportunity for a historic realignment. But to take advantage of that opportunity, we have to have a candidate espousing conservative ideals to whom persuadable people will at least listen with an open mind.

And I don't think that's Trump. It is still possible that he could win by squeaking out of victory with only core support, but I think that is unlikely, and in any case we'll miss the opportunity for realignment.

Trump is the nominee if he runs.

Desantis is smart enough to know this, he won’t run against Trump.

If Trump doesn’t run then I would expect Desantis to make a run and certainly be a contender for the nomination.

However, anyone who thinks the nomination is not Trump’s if he runs has been living in a cave.

“. I’m sure they’ll be nice to DeSantis”

They won’t be nice to Desantis, but he won’t give them ammunition with careless rhetoric and reckless actions. Desantis is disciplined. Trump is sloppy, shoot from the dip, lazy, unplanned, unstrategic. He never learned Don Corleone’s wisdom: “Women and children can be careless. Grown men can’t be careless”

desantis is currently running for reelection for florida governor this year (2022)...

he’s already stated his attention is focused on this year’s election, not a presidential campaign next year...

states wanting to opt out of the Union, or at least be able to go their own way when it comes to certain issues.

I hope and pray that the southeast, Midwestern and mountain states do exactly that.

“Trump is the nominee if he runs.”

Trump hasn’t faced opposition from the right, only from the left leaning Lincoln Project. . If Desantis runs ads from the right, that talk about Fauci and how Trump gave Fauci a platform, and how Trump gave us Wray and Esper and Barr, and how the unfinished wall allows caravans to come through, Trumps numbers will drop fast.

I don't mind if they hate a guy based on his policies. No way of avoiding that if you want to see those policies enacted.

What is more avoidable is when voters hate a guy because of his personality, because the personality doesn't advance anything worthwhile.

My problem is that he is a lightning rod for the left. That is, his election could very quickly thrust us into civil war.

So far so good, nothing civil about a war.

We have the guns and know how to use them, what the hell does the left do, after they burn down the slums that they live in?

F876 the left and the horse they rode in on.
