It wasn’t the building’s fault, so why punish the taxpayers by teating it down? Sends students a message that buildings are to be blamed rather than our politicians.
...........
I believe the school building is 30 or 40 years old. If they are going to do the kind of security hardening that they’re talking about then it’s probably cheaper to start from scratch and design a new one and then build it.
************
Start from scratch at today’s land and materials costs? No, a tear-down would not be based on economics. It would be based on an emotional feeling that the building has somehow become cursed. We need to teach kids how to recover and move on, rather than to rely on costly emotional gimmicks.

If this is precedent, then when will we be tearing down the entire South side of Chicago for political malfeasance.

Qualifications, skill, talent, knowledge had NOTHING to do with Arredondo being installed as police chief of schools.

as I suspected. Not dissimilar to the Biden administration or most government positions. A mayor of South Bend is in charge of U.S. Transportation? Seriously, what was his expertise? And Granholm, spare me.

I have long believed that some of the most dangerous people are those who don’t know what they don’t know.

When DPS, SWAT, or whomever arrived, it should have taken 10 seconds for Arredondo to say “Thank God, the professionals are here!” and to have relinquished command. I’m sure ego, and a completely overinflated idea of his own competence, prevented that.

But rest assured. Had the Uvalde cops been tasked with swatting a grandmother who walked across the capitol lawn on January 6th the full force and might of the PD would have been used to get her.

Exactly. Micro to macro, local to national.
