Somewhere over the last few days — since back when he was telling friends that he was emphatically out on the LIV Golf series — Brooks Koepka found a metaphorical horse’s head in his bed, an offer he couldn’t refuse from the Saudi dismemberment enthusiasts behind the breakaway circuit. Since Koepka does not suffer fools gladly and has been vocally contemptuous of LIV Golf’s leading figures — Greg Norman, Phil Mickelson and Golf Saudi CEO Majed Al Sorour — we must assume the offer was sufficiently high for him to sleep soundly.
For those who know Koepka well, one brief moment at last week’s U.S. Open offered early and irrefutable evidence that he had cast his lot with LIV Golf. He walked up to Mickelson on the range to offer him a fist bump and exchange a few words. That will not be the only time he finds himself doing something that would until very recently have found unpalatable. The Saudis expect loyalty

EDIT: He Couldn’t Refuse The Offer
The Saudis are loaded, so they have staying power. They'll need to get TV eyeballs.
I'll stick with the PGA. Can't stand Phil or Greg, or the Saudis--seems like they deserve one another.
Eff them globohomo pimps.
Let’s not be selective in our outrage. Unless we start with China, the biggest violator of human rights in the world today, we have no credibility turning our noses up at Saudi Arabia or any other nation.
The smelly, woke corporate bobbleheads who control the PGA are no more friends of mine than the Saudis. I hate their guts.
I don’t appreciate your profane reply.
But Kashoggi had only nice things to say about Osama, and the US government ferried Saudis safely out of the US right after 9/11.
This is not a Black and White case. Norman is right to point out the hypocrisy.
I really don't see how any member of the press can go all in for the PGA unless they are afraid of losing their access.
In which case, who is the real whore? The golfer who goes to a new league and makes tens of millions, or the "journalist" who kowtows to the PGA in order to get the occasional interview or exclusive?
How many degrees is the PGA leadership from the Deep State?
For the naysayers there seems to be some things lost in the conversation.
Johnson said he only wants to play 10 more years and then he a family man. He got $150 million. That’s winning the Tour Championship 10 years in a row……Generational Wealth.
DeChambeau says he doesn’t want to be on tour for 25 years. Wants to open a school and sports complex in the Dallas area.
All the other guys are putting away a nice nest egg with money they don’t have to win to get.
Prior to this thing kicking off, Mickelson had some harsh words for the PGA.
How many of you have been to the Masters and a PGA event, as they are two different events?
You go to Augusta and you pay normal prices for food and beer. They do get you when you buy a shirt, hat, etc. But it’s Augusta so suck it up.
Now, go to a PGA event and pay $9 for a Michelob Ultra. And that’s the cheap beer. Pay ridiculous amounts of money for EVERYTHING.
Justin Thomas Calls Out $18 Beer Prices at PGA Championship: ‘Gotta Treat the Fans Better’
The champion golfer shared fans’ concerns over the steep prices of concessions at this year’s PGA Championship
No one watches a PGA Tour event. They watch the golfers. Have the PGA put on an event and only invite players below the top 50. They’d be lucky to sell a couple of thousand tickets.
“So we’re supposed to hate LIV golf because the Saudis supposedly had something to do with 9/11 and Kashoggi’s demise.”
Don’t you remember when the Saudis bombed Libya in 2011 and destroyed the cooperating government and created a civil war to this day?
Or how about how the Saudis have trannies come into their schools and read faggot stories to little children?
Then they also teach how the majority or their population is born racist?
Wait...
No, we’re supposed to hate LIV golf because Doug Ferguson said so.
Every US professional sports league deserves to go broke.
At least all the top level ones I know of.
Maybe newer leagues are not making political stances…
Indeed. Srange how China is never mentioned in all this condemnation of the players joining the LIV Tour.
Another one who has not been winning much lately (and thus not getting much PGA money) - last won in 2018 or 2019 - gets bought with Saudi deep pockets.
I understand it is all 100% about the money. And I am not sorry to see Brooks go.
If the PGA becomes the minor leagues for the Saudis I will be laughing so hard....pride goeth before the fall...
All the guys joining LIV have been older (older than the average age of the newest young winners) and have not been winning much at all lately. I think they are legitimately the hasbeens of golf today.
Some of them (LIV joiners) played in the US Open this past weekend and they all did lousy.
Dustin Johnson was tied for 24th
Patrick Reed tied for 49th
Brooks Koepka tied for 55th
Bryson DeChambeau tied for 56th
Michelson was tied for 144th when he quit the tournament
Sergio Garcia missed the cut
Kevin Na missed the cut
Louis Oosthuizen missed the cut
The Saudis are paying alot for a lot of 2nd rate talent.
Brooks Koepka signing... open the flood gates.
Next year's PGA in NYS, friend just got a ticket, $200 for Friday which includes food/soft drink. That's a ripoff.
Yup….numbers like that I hope the PGA gets its collective a$$ handed to it.
They take movie theaters and the captive audience to a whole new level.
