Deshaun Watson reaches settlement in all but four sexual misconduct lawsuits
New York Post ^ | June 21, 2022 | Ryan Glasspiegel

Deshaun Watson has settled all but four of the civil lawsuits brought by massage therapists who accused him of sexual misconduct.

The news was announced by plaintiff lawyer Tony Buzbee.

“The case against Deshaun Watson started with one phone call, from one brave and strong woman. That woman was Ashley Solis,” Buzbee said in the statement. “Even though she was originally turned away by our screening process, my staff insisted that I personally speak with her. I’m glad she persisted. Once we took a second look, and after having contact with Watson’s original lawyer who disrespected Ashley and her profession and who arrogantly minimized the conduct of someone he referred to as an ‘asset,’ I was convinced that our law firm should try to help her.

Roger Goodell can now go into full wrist slapping mode.

My guess is an eight game suspension knocked down to six after the union appeal.

I haven’t followed closely.
Are they alleging rape or what charges?

Jones should gather a group of owners to vote Goodell out, if that’s the case. The NFL’s response has violated their own rules, and been wildly inconsistent with discipline for other players, in this case.

He will get no financial penalty, since his contract was written so that he would only lose $1 million out of $230 million, even if he was suspended for the entire season.

Tony Buzbee, the Tony Buzbee with a Sherman tank parked in his yard to cheese off the HOA? The Tony Buzbee who ran for mayor of Houston? That Tony Buzbee?

LOL

So these are all civil, not criminal suits, correct?

People who go out of their way to annoy HOAs have at least that going for them!

Remember when the NFL used to harass Jim McMahon for wearing a Rozelle headband?

Yes. In fact, they convened a grand jury and they didn’t come back with an indictment.

Even Bob Kraft, who was getting ‘happy endings’, ended up getting a relative slap on the wrist.

This is purely speculation, but I have a feeling that if Watson had been indicted, it would have been for a misdemeanor like indecent exposure or something of that like.

It’s more of a moral issue than a criminal one. The guy seemed like he had a fetish for massages.

So... He’s defacto admitting guilt?

Here comes the big punishment from the woke NFL...
After all, he didn’t kill anyone...

I’d recommend that, if he plays this season, he be required to play without either helmet or padding of any kind...

His 2022 base is just a tad over $1 million or about $55k per game.

2023 base is $46 million.

They allege that they were made to feel uncomfortable.

Hence the Civil cases. No legal grounds.

Sexually inappropriate behavior. Not sure what that means in concrete terms. He was investigated by two grand juries and neither one returned any indictments, so there’s that. My guess is that any action by the NFL will be minimal. Browns have some high powered lawyers of their own weighing in.
