UVALDE, Texas — On Monday, KVUE and its news partners at the Austin American-Statesman exclusively obtained surveillance footage from inside Robb Elementary School on the day of the May 24 shooting.
The footage shows that multiple officers were inside the building with rifles and at least one ballistic shield, 19 minutes after the gunman arrived. They didn't enter the classroom the shooter was inside for nearly another hour.
Investigators believe this will prove to be a significant development as it indicates they had more than enough firepower and protection to enter that classroom before they actually did.
Authorities have since developed their most extensive timeline yet since the shooting, in which an 18-year-old armed with an AR-15 walked into the school, killing 19 students and two teachers.
Much of this new information is expected to be presented at a Texas Senate hearing on Tuesday, the first of two consecutive days at the Capitol where members of the public can address lawmakers.
The May 24 response by law enforcement has been under heavy scrutiny after the Texas DPS revealed that officers waited more than 70 minutes to confront the shooter, even as trapped students called 911 for help.
According to the latest timeline, officers ultimately breached the classroom at 12:50 p.m. The shooter entered at 11:33 a.m.

Barber Shop owners have no reason to keep Shotguns, we need more laws against assault guns
So could beto have schemed this up on his own?
Does the video show where they had placed their thumbs?
I see what you did there...
I just saw this on the news. They had AR-15s and at least 1 ballistics shield.
Cowards!
Unarmed parents were willing to rush the building. Yet those heavily-armed cops were not. No matter. These cops will go with the Clinton defense. Delay and delay until the whole thing goes away.
It will work. These cowards will stay on the job. They’ll harass people for littering, and maybe even shoot a few dogs. Then they’ll retire with nice pensions.
This will make even more people hate and distrust the police. That’s a shame, as many cops are good people. But it is what it is.
Also just in on the Rita Cosby show as reported on the Texas Tribune...
According to video tape the actual classroom door was may have never ever been locked and since the door locks from the outside it may have been open the ENTIRE time!
The police chatter recordings from that day are unavailable.
None of the officer cams are available.
Who gave the stand-down order and why?
Teachers were in the classroom taking bullets for kids and the police were in the hall wetting their pants.
What is everyone crying about? We spent the last couple years decrying that cops have a warrior mentality. When you don’t have a warrior mentality, you don’t going to deffend innocent victims.
> Teachers were in the classroom taking bullets for kids and the police were in the hall wetting their pants. <
And it’s even worse than that. Those kids were desperately dialing 911 as they were bleeding out and dying. The cries and the screams from that room must have been horrible.
Yet those cops just stood there, and did nothing. Bless those Border Patrol officers who showed up, and did what had to be done.
I don’t understand why any of those coward cops are still on duty today. If I were a parent of one of those dead children, it would be my life’s mission to harass those cops until they all resign.
Every word, including tag is as true as can be.
You don’t need a gun when cops are only 70 minutes away!
1) they lied about not having a shield
2) they had the special tool to open the door
3) the actual classroom door was very well likely open the entire time video shows
There needs to be mass firings.
The newly reported account contradicts earlier reports that Uvalde school district police Chief Pete Arredondo, who was in charge of the police response, was waiting for tactical gear and a protective shield to move on the gunman.
The first officer with a ballistic shield who entered the school questions why they weren’t attempting to enter the classroom. “If there’s kids in there, we need to go in there,” the officer says in body cam footage.
At 12:03 p.m., an officer with another shield arrives, followed by a third two minutes later, according to KVUE.
I have no doubt this happened to gain support and was orchestrated for a push of “Red Flag” laws. I am not promoting nor am making a call to action, however my feelers and spider sences direct me that we are on the cusp of revolution, my personal greatest fear, the mass loss of life that can be resolved through diplomacy. It’s end result might not be the desired outcome, for eother side, but it can be a begining.
I recall a picture of a tall guy striding, carrying a shotgun.
