I would have to say it isn’t just 95 of 100 Senators.
With what I’ve been seeing locally, your 100% correct description applies to city councils, county commissions, school boards, zoning boards, state legislatures, local/county/state judges.
Basically, it seems like your neighbor, who can barely start a lawnmower gets elected to the city council and there he is “making decisions for you and the rest of the folks” because he knows more than you and what is good for you and the community.
It’s at every level.
I agree. My reference to the senate was meant to give a sense of how government as a whole views its role - to be boss over the chattel - and wasn't meant to be that there are only 95 skunks in the whole works.
Government is what, 10% or so, 7% of the adult population? They don't get into that line of work in order to allow people freedom!! That's antithetical to being in control.
