Good ol' Bill Nye - an actor who knows nothing about science, nor anything about history, either. I would say he should stick to what he knows, but that apparently isn't much of anything.

Slavery was not practiced in the majority of what is now the United States - could not have been "built on the backs of slaves." One of the reasons the North had such an advantage over the South was that the slave-free North was much more economically developed (including in agriculture and staples typically associated with slavery, such as the production of cotton - vastly outproduced the South) than the South - slavery was a big factor in holding the South back. It stifled innovation, did not allow for free market of labor, slaves did not earn wages therefore their labor did not result in increased commercial / economic activity, etc. Then of course many states weren't even around yet at the time of the Civil War and slavery was never practiced there.

The man is an actor.

A paid for shill (influencer in todays parlance) and EVERY ‘opinion’ he holds is bought and paid for!

Historical revisionism is, and has been, real with the Left. Bet.

Talk about beating a dead horse. The holiday was yesterday. Let’s not dwell on the past. Let’s look forward to the future and see what’s possible. Elon Musk is a good example of showing us that.

Bill Nye used to be on SNL knock off called Almost Live in Seattle in the late 80s/early 90s. I enjoyed some of the skits where he would play the mad scientist and something always went wrong. Plus others like “ineffectual middle management suckups” which you can still find on youtube. He should have stayed there.

Juneteenth, The only holiday where black folks give thanks to white folks for delivering them from slavery.

If only that were true ...

In practice, it's just another day for the perpetually offended professional minorities to spew bile and vitriol at White Men.

Facts are stubborn things.

Indeed. This Juneteenth is a stupid holiday, and should never have happened. Since it has, I'll consider it a holiday that focuses on the slavery imposed on tax-paying Americans by our government. Those tax-paying Americans are mostly non-blacks saddled with paying for the freebies bestowed on non-productive members of our society (note "members" and not "citizens").

I will ask the unaskable question:

From the article:

June 19th commemorates the day that U.S. General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865 — and shared the news that the Emancipation Proclamation had been passed two years earlier. The Civil War had ended two months before June 1865.

If this date is not the date the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, and this date is not the date the 13th Amendment was ratified, then why is this date worthy of a Federal Holiday?
