This doesn’t mean that Macron is out of power, and his party still has the largest portion of seats, but it means that if the president decides to submit legislation, he can’t just ram it though unilaterally.
In principle, this moderates the power of the ruling party leader, but in practice, the leader still gets 95% of what he wants because he buys off a smaller party for a coalition or agreement for his legislation. Since the French president is elected separately from the parliament, he can align with different parties and buy them off on individual items rather than have to include them in a governing coalition.
So he will make a coalition with the progressives … he will not work with Le Pen
So far that’s at least three that have lost ground. France, UK and Estonia. And that’s just the beginning. Wait until the US mid terms.
How’s that war and sanctions working out so far??
