Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson accused CBS host Stephen Colbert’s production crew of committing “insurrection.”
“Last night, producers from Stephen Colbert’s show on CBS committed insurrection at the United States Capitol,” Carlson said, referring to the producers’ unescorted entrance into a House office building authorized by Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.).
The comments were made in the midst of a series of public hearings by the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.
Thus far, the hearings have highlighted the injuries inflicted on police officers by the rioters who broke into the Capitol demanding that Congress stop the certification of President Biden’s win. The roles of those close to former President Trump, including his daughter Ivanka Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, have also been discussed.
Carlson criticized Schiff for illegally giving CBS producers access to the Capitol complex, implying hypocrisy because Schiff “has spent the last year and a half telling you that unauthorized violations of capitol space are a coup.”
“Adam Schiff illegally gave producers from CBS access to the Capitol and then the crew, which includes the show’s senior producer, director, comedian and writer, remained in the House, Longworth House office building after hours and the point of them being there was for them to harass sitting members of congress,” Carlson said.
The crew approached Reps. Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-Ga.) and Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) while in the office building, with Carlson claiming they went there to “harass” the two right-wing congresswomen.
The Capitol Police told Fox News that “responding officers observed seven individuals unescorted and without congressional ID in a six floor hallway.”
The producers were arrested for unlawful entry into the Capitol complex, although Carlson said hey should spend a year and a half in solitary confinement before going to court because of the “precedent” set by the trials of Jan. 6 insurrectionists.
I know that Kevin McCarthy will be all over this June 16 and form a committee. Right now he’s probably hyperventilating because he’s so excited about doing something about this. He knows Adam shift is going down and Kevin McCarthy is going to be the vehicle that’s going to make it happen. If anyone reading this believes my bullshit forgive me. None of the above will ever happen.
McCarthy will send a stern letter to Pelosi and then rejoin the rest of the Republican House leadership hiding in the tall grass.
What they accuse us of they are doing with the protection of the weaponized holder Obama agencies
Quick! Somebody call Nanzi’s J6 Nazis!!! We need a cleanup on aisle 5.
I doubt he will go as far as a "stern" letter. More likely he will send a letter expressing "grave concern" with possibly a hint of "sorrowful reproach."
MTG and LB should feign crying next to a fence in an empty parking lot, with the caption “We almost Died during this insurrection!”.
Although I admire his ability to compare/contrast, to be valid one of the CNN TWOT’s needed to be shot in the face by another heroic DC copper.
Oh, and another three coppers have to have died in totally unrelated circumstances weeks later.
Woops. Not CNN, CBS.
Not that there is a lot of difference.
“We also had a situation on June 16, just last week. There was a
certain film crew that works for Stephen Colbert who had been basically
stalking me all day long, going throughout, following us around here.
My staff was very helpful in putting me in the car and keeping me away
from them. They ended up outside my office, and my staff took me
somewhere else so I didn’t have to go there.
Now, we find out that it was a certain Democrat Member who is serving
on the January 6th Committee who let them in the buildings. When the
Capitol Police threw them out, it also happened to be Congressman Jake
Auchincloss’ and Tim Hysom’s staff that let them back in late at night.
Madam Speaker, do you know whose office they were going to?
Mine. My office.”
