Honoring my Dad tonight.
Second generation immigrant from Finland, he was born and grew-up in Minnesota, he and his family survived the Great Depression.
He enlisted in the Army after Pearl Harbor and after training was stationed in the Pacific War theater.
He was an Infantry soldier, NCO and ultimately received a battlefield commission as a 2nd Lieutenant.
He was wounded twice in battle and received 2 Purple Hearts and other medals before the end of the war.
After the war and newly married to my Mom, he moved out to Seattle and was a mechanic and Engineer for the Boeing company for 30 years before retiring.
Not only was he my and my sister's Dad but he became our only parent as our mother was killed in a train-car accident when we were both very young.
He raised both of us all by himself and did a darn good job!
Here's to you, Dad, you were the best there ever was, Happy Father's Day!
My Dad, 5/28/14 to 10/8/88, I still miss you dearly, Dad!
What a beautiful tribute to your Dad on this Father's Day.
We thank both of you for your service to our country.
What little you’ve told us of your dad is enough to see why you so honor his memory. He more than deserves it. May the Lord Almighty Rest Your Father’s Soul, and Honor and Cherish him even more than You do.
G-D BLESS.
