Early on, I posted a piece that listed Putin’s objectives as being the two sepratist regions. It did not mention Ukraine in total.
It would seem that the two noted objectives have been secured and the troops holding the areas least include indiginous sepratists.
The war is approaching or has achieved the condition of stalemate. Russia can’t advance and Ukraine lacks the ability to recapture any of the lost territory. Any inludes Crimea.
Putin has begun to whine about sanctions and the harsh treatment from the west. Russia though gaining the territory has lost the war.
There will be no winner. The Russians will gain the east that they seek . They will retain what they took in 2014. Ukraine will not be able to take back what they lost but will retain their independence and the support of the EU and NATO. What the future holds is unknown.
