The bank has spent the last few weeks installing the app from US firm Movius on work phones so that its compliance teams can keep an eye on communications with clients, says the FT, citing sources....The move comes as 'regulators' in the US, UK and Germany all step up their interest in client communications.
Meanwhile, both HSBC and Credit Suisse have dismissed staffers over inappropriate messaging.

If it’s the bank’s phone, they have the right to do that.
I would have two phone under this circumstance.
Yup pretty simple: don’t use a company phone for personal biz and there won’t be a problem.
Exactly. What idiots people must be to think the companies can’t do as they wish with their own hardware. Do you have a right not to be surveilled? Sure, on hardware you own and paid for. Use it.
NaughtZee bank providing these eavesdropping devices?
Hint: only use work phones for work.
Nothing to worry about here folks.
What is happening here is nothing more than the sequel to 1984 and the new book is called 2022.
Exactly!
The problem is sometimes the company phones is used for company business that’s illegal. I don’t think they are looking for love notes to girl/boy friends here.
The thing is, the apps just save time and money. The data can be caputured and reviewed otherwise. Looking at text messages is a pain, but can be faster than reviewing voice. But, as someone suggested on the thread, use two phones. They are only going to catch the incompetent or lazy crooks.
When I was employed all my family members knew never call work unless an emergency. ....
Not necessarily. But that at least usually takes a subpoena. But BYOD is generally not a good thing to do.

Let’s see now. Back in 1984 for the Freepers, who were working then, I guess none of us ever used our company land line telephone to set up a date for the evening or conduct some personal business during working hours.
Would any of us squawked if our company had put recorders on the land line phone back then???????
I recall when cells began trending - I was working part-time after retiring. They allowed them in the workplace until obviously they required they be shut down. It was a mad house of young people gabbing all day long!
A couple of years ago I had a brokerage firm execute a trade incorrectly for me. They documented my complaint, went back to review the recording of the phone transaction, and then corrected the trade retroactively for me.
I’m surprised Deutsche Bank hasn’t been doing this tracking for years already.
“Do you have a right not to be surveilled? Sure, on hardware you own and paid for.”
Tell that to M$
“What is happening here is nothing more than the sequel to 1984 and the new book is called 2022.”
Wrong. Companies need to have records of their communications.
Phone calls are recorded.
Emails are archived.
Written letters are scanned and archive.
Yeah, there will be, they’ll target some for using the wrong pronoun, while others f-bomb the CEO and get away with it based on intersectionality.
Exactly. More and more business is done via messaging.
A few weeks ago I called a company to come out for an estimate.
After giving the estimate, the agent ask to bill my cc for $79.00.
I told him no as I was not informed of that charge upfront.
He said I was and called in where the women was adamant that she informed everyone and told the agent to replay the call.
He grinned as he started the replay but grimaced as he called back to the office and informed the lady that she never informed me of the charge.
And Apple, Amazon, Google.
Sounds like someone's got an insider trading problem.
