Proof that this was in response to the Lithuanian politician:
If Russia revokes her 1991 recognition of Lithuania's independence, Lithuania will revoke the 1634 Treaty of Polyanovka and demand that Putin submits to the authority of Władysław IV and returns all occupied territories to the Grand Duchy. Smolensk is Lithuania!
Stop being a communist stooge and double check all KGB claims
A Russian Duma member threatened to revoke Lithuania's 1990 independence first. The Lithuanian deputy minister responded by saying if that happens Lithuania will rescind the Treaty of Polyanovka of 1614.
This is the sequence of events in both the Newsweek article and the topwar.ru article you posted.
Your ‘proof’ shows that the Lithuanian response was made in response TO this proposal. He was talking about what he would do if this Russian legislation was passed. So, no, it wasn’t in response to something Lithuania did.
The Russian deputy - who belongs to the ruling party - is stirring up drama.
