Kyiv has said its missiles struck a Russian vessel which was heading to Snake Island, the strategic Black Sea location that has been bitterly fought over since the start of the Ukraine war.
Ukraine's defense forces tweeted on Friday that the Russian tugboat Spasatel Vasily Bekh had been "successfully demilitarized" by the Ukrainian Navy.
"The ship was transporting personnel, weapons and ammunition to the occupied Snake Island," the tweet said next to an image of the vessel with a red cross apparently drawn on it.
Military analyst Rob Lee shared video ... "Given the slow speed of the munitions, these were likely MAM-L launched from TB2 and not anti-ship missiles unless the video was slowed down," Lee said in a follow-up tweet.

Because if it was a harpoon, the explosion would be like this:

And the hole left behind...
...would be bigger than the tug.
Either way, between small smart bombs or big anti-ship missiles,
its another day, and another workplace accident for the Russian Navy. đ
Wait, from the text, they sunk a medical ship? Nice. /s
Figures that it *wasn’t* a Harpoon. Sending a $1m Harpoon at a tugboat costing a few hundred grand isn’t the most cost-effective way of targeting it, especially given that these (typically) non-naval vessels don’t exactly have much in the way of defenses.
According to the Ukrainian Navy, Russian navy vessel (said to be Rescue Tug Spasatel Vasily Bekh) was struck presumably by anti-ship missile near Snake Island.

Sounds official.
In practical terms under International Law, painting a red cross on any vehicle transporting weapons means "aim here, please".
Wrong thread.
Again.
L
I believe what happened there, is that I load up this
fundraising pencil post, and once in a while I post to
a thread with something else in the copy cue.
Thanks for the mention.
Hopefully, I only did it once.

Posting the same personal attack targeting nine different posters on nine different threads in 1:59 minutes does not look good.
That was a post to me. I copied it into my cue, and thought
I had replaced it with my pencil donation post html. I
hadn’t.
That went to about ten threads, and was not posted to any
single forum participant.
As soon as it was brought to my attention, I had those
posts taken down.
Thanks for your comments. I’ll make sure that one is
one of the ones taken down.
Harpoon?
Which culture has just been misappropriated?
Now it’s a good Russian boat. ;)
#14. Yes.
A “few hundred grand”? This isn’t Little Toot on the Thames - the cost of an ocean-going tug starts at several million.

Relative to the corvette, presumably bigger engine, fewer (if any) armaments.
I didnât know Newsweek was still a thing much less an authoritative source for FR. But such is the state of the neocon propaganda these days.
Although I have fun posting stories like this, I did point the problems with how the story was reported. Give me some credit for the threads I post.
