NEW YORK — A planned concert by John Hinckley Jr., who shot and wounded President Ronald Reagan in 1981, has been canceled even as Hinckley was freed from federal court oversight, the New York City venue that had booked the performance announced.
The Market Hotel in Brooklyn cited “very real and worsening threats and hate” in its announcement on social media Wednesday that it was canceling the July 8 concert.
The now 67-year-old Hinckley was found not guilty by reason of insanity in the March 30, 1981, shooting of Reagan in Washington.
Reagan was seriously wounded in the assassination attempt, and his press secretary, James Brady, was permanently disabled.

Do you think some people, who did not wish Mr. Hinckley well, might show up at the concert? That might be a tough audience.

This concert was SOLD OUT.
Reagan was hated much the same as Trump is. Those tickets weren’t bought by people who like guitar music.

Have you heard any of Hinkley’s stuff? I haven’t and not interested. Just wondering if he sucks and it’s just liberal virtue signaling.

This is what the ‘sound of silence’ should be about.
Silence has never been heard so loud, and it’s a sweet sound.
I like that kind of silence.

Brady died as a result of his injuries. Should have been tried for murder.

However, the risks of promoting a show by someone whose notoriety rests solely on a violent past, and "seeing the nature of who this booking has antagonized," led the venue to cancel.

Brady died as a result of his injuries. Should have been tried for murder. It had already been adjudicated that he was legally insane at the time of the shooting.
