I wondered this too. I think she thought she would go to DC and be part of the “in” crowd and instead was hated because of her father. I think she was embarrassed and scared and ended up throwing him under the bus. I never liked her.

2019 was before things really got going and it was just a routine disease response team. It was in 2020 that things heated up and Trump was attacked first for shutting down travel with China and then, conversely, for not “doing enough.” At that point he made Pence the point man.
I think Trump sincerely wished to depoliticize the issue, since he knew that no matter what he did, it would be attacked and ridiculed (which it was…remember Tump wants you to drink fish tank cleaner?). Pence was the one who then handed it over to Fauci and Birx as the “authorities” and decision makers and gave Fauci the public spotlight he so desired.
I respectfully disagree. Things were heating up in 2019. First was the U.S led pandemic exercise from Jan-August 2019 called Crimson Contagion. A National, state, local and private company led exersize. It was based on Tourists from China with a respiratory virus. Then in September of 2019 the pandemic and vaccine EO was signed. Listing the pandemic team and changing vaccines to mRNA. Followed by Event 201, which was a global exersize.
