Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) is projected to progress to the next round in the state’s special election for its at-large congressional seat following the March death of Rep. Don Young (R).
Palin was in the top four candidates in the primary race Saturday, which featured candidates of all parties. The top four vote-getters in the primary advance to a ranked-choice election, according to novel voting laws in Alaska.
With 132,730 votes counted, Palin had 28.3 percent of the vote, putting her atop the field, according to The Associated Press.
The former governor was one of more than 50 candidates to run.
Palin served as governor of Alaska from 2006 until she resigned in 2009. During that time, she also was the GOP vice presidential nominee in the 2018 race, running alongside then-Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.). Their ticket ended up losing to Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

This is a crazy way to nominate candidates. Lefties like Liz Warren favor it. Why has the Alaska GOP not repealed it?
Would love to see Sarah win & get into Congress! She seems to be a real go-getter.
Palin goes to congress the squad and Pelosi will go nuts... Palin will drive them nuts... CAT FIGHT CAT FIGHT.
Repealed it? It’s brand new - passed by referendum.
The Murkowski Protection Act.
I bought a McCain/Palin bumper sticker. I took a black indelible marker and obliterated the McCain. I voted for her NOT for him.
Ranked choice voting is hard to predict. The 2nd place Republican (Begich) might be favored if he is ranked higher than Palin among Democrats.
I think that this next 2 years in the house is going to be fun to watch. we are at a cultural tipping point with republicans, and I am hopeful...
There was a Presidental Election in 2018?
How did I miss it?
I saw a postal employee’s car in a post office parking lot in 2008.
He had cut off the “McCain” portion and affixed “Palin” to the rear window of his personal vehicle.
I voted for her, too.....not him.
The story is so packed full of lies and half truths.
1. Lie she got fired LIARS...She resigned because as Governor she had to employ 6 additional people to answer all the FOI ( By federal law she had to respond ) another democrat method to screw Americans an they never answer FOI,s. from the Democrat Owned Media.... 2. The reason here sister was getting a divorce the state trooper is he beat her up and put her in a hospital.
It never ceases to amaze me what liars The Hill is because if you noticed they removed there comments section. This rag was originally designed as a paper for talking government employees to talk to each other...Have no one learned to do the research before they lie in your face...scum..
100% correct scum always protects scum like her and the same in Maine for the other hill billy....
Sarah Palin won’t win this political race, unless a supermajority of Alaska voters each end up choosing her for all four positions on the ballot! This new kind of voting will be very confusing, for too many Alaska voters. It certainly screwed up the final results of a Maine Congressional Seat, a few years back.
“ I bought a McCain/Palin bumper sticker. I took a black indelible marker and obliterated the McCain. I voted for her NOT for him.”
I have a bunch of McLame/Palin buttons. I also have a bunch of Dem candidates bumper stickers, not because I liked them but I found out how much campaign cash they are willing to waste by sending them to me.
Her running mate was a dead man?
Regards,
Same here, I just took a razor blade and cut McSwines name off it!
I think there were a lot of us here at FR who held their nose at the McCain part of that ticket.
RCV is a plan to harvest votes from folks that will not vote for you otherwise. Part of the Byzantine logic of RCV is this: for each political race if you voted for another person in that race, it doesn’t mean that you were voting against the leader. Hence it is logical to count your vote for the leader.
If liberals like RCV, it should be outlawed.
